Although Kenric Green is also a writer and producer, he is best known in the entertainment industry for portraying Scott in AMC's hit show “The Walking Dead.”

He debuted in season six, and while he has not been as crucial as other characters, he has certainly outlived some of them, including Sasha, portrayed by his real-life wife Sonequa Martin-Green.

KENRIC AND SONEQUA IN “TWD”

In an interview with The Telegraph, Sonequa confessed that working with Kenric in “The Walking Dead” was amazing. While some people might think that he landed a part just because of his wife, Sonequa said it was not like that.

Sonequa Martin-Green’s husband auditioned five times for five different roles, actually, and although he got the gig, he and his wife only had one or two scenes together, so we couldn’t really see their chemistry on-screen.

Sonequa said that since Kenric's character (Scott) outlived hers (Sasha), she keeps telling him he must “avenge” her even though Scott didn’t really know Sasha.

Speaking of their relationship, Kenric and Sonequa met at the McCarter Theater in Princeton, New Jersey, as they were both working in the play “Fetch Clay, Make Man.” They tied the knot on December 4, 2010.

HIDING HER PREGNANCY

Back in November 2014, Sonequa attracted a lot of attention during an episode of “Talking Dead,” a live after-show for “The Walking Dead,” after announcing that she was eight months pregnant.

According to Sonequa, she felt great and was able to do everything she usually would portraying Sasha. While it was difficult, the actress added that she was focused and had a lot of energy.

If she was eight months into her pregnancy in November 2014, she was already pregnant while filming the show's fifth season. Still, nobody seemed to notice Sonequa’s baby bump in any of the episodes.

The actress told Entertainment Weekly in 2015 that they hid her belly behind big guns, dead bodies, and walkers, the way zombies are called in “The Walking Dead” universe.

[Sonequa] has dealt with some difficulties throughout her life, including her mother’s three battles against cancer.

SONEQUA MARTIN-GREEN’S KIDS

Sonequa added that the fact that she had a “great pregnancy” and her body was not swollen also helped in hiding it. On January 10, 2015, Kenric Green and Sonequa Martin-Green’s son, Kenric Justin Green II, was born.

Less than a year later, the actress said that parenting had been “profound” and “enlightening,” adding that it made her relationship with her husband stronger. She confessed:

“It’s really been divine having someone come from you and being responsible for their livelihood, for nurturing them. My heart just melts as I speak about it.”

Kenric and Sonequa’s second child, a baby girl named Saraiyah Green, was born on July 19, 2020. According to an Instagram post the actress shared, she gave birth at home and in the water.

Sonequa wrote in the caption that, before Saraiyah, they never felt that anything was missing. However, after welcoming the girl into their family, they felt “a perfect sense of completeness.”

KENRIC AND SONEQUA NOWADAYS

Coming back to Sonequa’s career, she made history in 2017 after becoming the first African-American woman to lead the cast of a “Star Trek” project in “Star Trek: Discovery.”

While Sonequa has had a remarkable run in Hollywood, she has dealt with some difficulties throughout her life, including her mother’s three battles against cancer.

Apart from that, her sister survived breast cancer, but many aunts, uncles, and grandparents died of “this evil disease” that “runs rampant” in her family. For all those reasons, she has been an ambassador for Stand Up to Cancer since 2016.

At the moment, Kenric Green’s wife is still working in “Star Trek: Discovery” and is expected to appear in “Space Jam: A New Legacy.” As per the actor, he is still portraying Scott in “The Walking Dead.” Only time will tell if he can avenge Sasha.
