Story of the Day: Man Does Not Want to House His Sister's Fiancé

A man and his sister got into a fight after he refused to allow her fiancé to stay in his house due to his history of being a freeloader.

Betty and her fiancé, Alex, have been together for three years. Her brother Max and her parents are not fond of Alex and do not see why she is still with him.

Max, in particular, considers Alex to be a loser. He considers the young man to be rude and lazy. Truly, Alex finds it difficult to stay on a job and either gets fired or quits.

His inability to stay on a job has caused him and Betty to be in a bad place financially. Aside from his financial situation, Max loathes Alex for his poor attitude.

He explained to his friends that he feels embarrassed to go for a meal with Alex because he would quickly throw a fit in the restaurant over something in his food and try to get a free meal.

Max tries to avoid having conversations with Alex and deliberately refuses to visit Betty when he is around. Recently, Betty lost her job due to the pandemic, and soon after, she was asked to vacate her house for failing to pay.

Betty and Alex moved in with their friend to enable them to save up for their apartment. Recently, they discovered that she was three months pregnant.

Betty called Max to inform him that Alex and their friend had a fight, and his friend asked them to get somewhere else to stay. She asked Max if they could put up with him for a while until they get a place of their own, but he refused.

Max voiced his concerns about Alex's attitude. He noted that he had heard that the latter was difficult to live with. He recalled that after being evicted, Alex refused to leave, despite threats from his landlord.

His landlord had to go through the court process to get Alex out of his house, and Max feels it would be harder to get him to leave if he decides he is not comfortable with him.

After explaining to Betty, she begged that Alex would be nicer and easier to leave with and there would be no difficulties in having them move out since it was just for a few months.

Max noted that Betty had found it difficult to convince Alex to move out of their previous home despite the landlord's persistence. He confessed that he was unsure she could influence him.

He told her that she could come to stay with him for as much as she wanted to, but he would not be having Alex over his place. Betty called Max wicked and inconsiderate, explaining that she was pregnant and stranded and he did not care to help. He explained that he was willing to help her but just not Alex.
