'American Idol' Contestant Cecil Ray Baker Arrested on Burglary Charges at His Ex's Home
Ex "American Idol" contender Cecil Ray Baker was charged with burglary of habitation after breaking into his ex-girlfriend's house and hitting her when she refused to let him in.
Baker, who competed in season 19 of "American Idol," was charged with burglary of habitation with intent to commit assault after breaking into his ex-girlfriend Mariah Lopez's home on April 14. The victim called the police on him, and she was found with a swollen cheek, where the singer allegedly hit her.
According to the victim, Baker tried to get into the house through the front door, but he tried coming in from the back when he was refused entry. He broke the back door in order to enter the home.
When he was in the house, he pushed her to the floor. Lopez's sister witnessed the incident, and she claims that the ex-contestant was trying to see Lopez's child, whom he believes is his own.
After trying to tell the suspect to leave multiple times, she was struck in the face. The sister's story supported that of Lopez's narrative of events.
Cops tried to track Baker down after the incident and found out that he moved to a nearby town. On April 17, he was arrested and released that same day after posting a $15,000 bail.
During his audition, he dedicated his performance to his daughter Emilia.

Lopez shared the story on TikTok, detailing the abuse she experienced in Baker's hands. She showed proof of the incident and ultimately wished that he would change.
"I hope one day that you change and hold yourself accountable. I hope one day you can change and flourish into the person that you need to be."
The 20-year-old recently competed on "American Idol" season 19 and was part of the Top 24 contestants. After having bouts of stage fright during his performances, he was eliminated in the Top 16.
During his audition, he dedicated his performance to two-month-old daughter Emilia. During Hollywood Week, he was given a second chance after missing his start due to fear.
Eventually, he was able to calm his nerves by thinking of his family and his daughter, which allowed him to pull through and deliver a good performance. Unfortunately, what he's done failed to impress the judges enough for him to stay in the competition.
Meanwhile, another 20-year-old "Idol" contestant exited from the hit show due to personal issues. Wyatt Pike dropped out after advancing as one of the show's Top 12 contestants.
The singer did not reveal the personal reasons behind his sudden exit, but he thanked the show for the opportunity and wished other contestants luck. Pike assured fans that he has things planned out for them soon.
