Inside New ABC Hip-Hop Drama 'Queens' Starring Eve, Brandy, and More
Eve, Brandy, Naturi Naughton, and Nadine Velazquez are starring in a new ABC drama series titled "Queens." Get a glimpse into the star-studded new show.
On Monday, singer-songwriter Brandy shared a video on her Instagram page showing a preview of ABC's new hip-hop drama pilot, "Queens."
Brandy stars in the new series alongside female rapper Eve, Naturi Naughton, and Nadine Velazquez. The co-stars portray four female characters who are looking to recapture their 90s fame.

The four women belong to a female hip-hop group. For 20 years, they were estranged from each other and must now work together to regain the former swagger that saw them become renowned hip-hop stars.
Brandy plays the character Naomi, also known as Xplicit Lyrics, while Eve portrays Brianna, aka Professor Sex. Naughton stars as Jill, aka Da Thrill, while Velazquez will portray Valeria, aka Butter Pecan.
In the trailer video Brandy shared on Instagram, Eve's character could be heard screaming that she is a queen. The clip also showed the female group performing in front of fans.
Eve's character grapples with whether or not she possesses the swagger and confidence she once had.
The video showed the women discussing their comeback on the world's biggest stage after 20 years and their invitation to perform in the world's biggest Black awards show.
In the post's caption, Brandy wrote, "The QUEENS are coming to take back their crowns 👑." She also mentioned ABC and her other co-stars.
In March, Deadline announced that Brandy would star in the series. Besides reuniting with the band, her character would meet with the only man she has ever loved and build a relationship with her daughter, who she has never been there for.
Meanwhile, in February, The Wrap confirmed that Eve would star in the series. Her character is a proud wife and mother of five children.
When the opportunity came for the female group to reunite, Eve's character grapples with whether or not she possesses the swagger and confidence she once had.
Deadline also confirmed Taylor Selé would star in the upcoming series, playing the character Eric Jones. Pepi Sonuga will also play a role portraying the character Lil Muffin.
Zahir McGhee wrote the series and executive produces it with Sabrina Wind and Tim Story. McGhee will also direct the pilot episode. Fans can watch the "Queens" premiere on ABC this fall.
