Meet Eliza Roberts — Eric Roberts' Wife of Almost 30 Years and Mom of 2
Casting director and actress Eliza Roberts has been Eric Roberts’ wife for almost three decades. Although they have one of the longest marriages in Hollywood, they’ve dealt with their fair share of hardships.
Born in Mississippi, Eric Roberts suffered from “horrible stuttering” as a kid. It was so bad that his classmates would constantly make fun of him, and he evidently hated it.
Eventually, he learned he could speak properly after memorizing texts, so he was determined to be an actor. After studying for years, he landed a part in the soap opera “Another World.”

ERIC ROBERTS’ EARLY CAREER
Sadly, he was “the world’s worst soap actor,” so he was fired before his first season ended. Casting director Marion Dougherty discovered Eric in a play and introduced him to manager Bill Treusch.
Although Treusch had never seen Eric work before, he trusted Dougherty and signed him right away. Shortly after, the actor booked his first film, “King of the Gypsies.”
Due to his outstanding performance, Eric Roberts was nominated for his first Golden Globe. In June 1981, a car accident left him in a comatose state for three days.
Apart from breaking bones, he had facial trauma, too, so he didn’t look the same. From that point on, he began landing more villain characters, including Paul Snider in “Star 80.”
That role got him nominated for his second Golden Globe, but one of the most impressive performances of his career came in 1985 when he played Buck McGeehy in “Runaway Train.”
Julia Roberts’ brother has also appeared in “Less than Perfect,” “The Young and the Restless,” “Suits,” and “Lost Girl.” While his career has been outstanding, his love life has attracted a lot of attention.
MEETING ELIZA ROBERTS
Eric and Eliza Roberts, a talented entertainer with many credits to her name as an actress and casting director, met on a plane over three decades ago.
They coincidentally sat next to each other and began talking. Eliza asked Eric who his favorite screenwriter was, and he said David Rayfiel. What he didn’t know was that Rayfiel was Eliza’s dad.
Although Eric and Eliza Roberts didn’t have children together, they raised very talented kids.
The couple began dating right away and tied the knot on August 16, 1992. Unfortunately, Eric became addicted to cocaine and marihuana for decades.
His addiction to the former was so severe that Eliza once gave him an ultimatum: he could either quit it or lose his wife. He stopped doing cocaine but kept using cannabis.
During an interview with Lifestyle Magazine TV, Eliza Roberts opened up about those challenging years. She said addicts would keep saying they could quit at any time but have no idea how it feels to be their significant other. She added:
“They don’t really have the choice. They’re not choosing anything. The joke’s on them. They’ve already been chosen and enslaved by this substance.”
ERIC AND ELIZA’S CHILDREN
Although Eric and Eliza Roberts didn’t have children together, they raised very talented kids as a couple. One of them is actress Emma Roberts, whom Eliza once described as a “treasure” and an amazing woman.
They also share a son named Keaton Simons, a singer-songwriter and guitarist who has played for Chris Cornell, Snoop Dogg, Gnarles Barkley, and other artists.
Morgan Simons, Eliza Roberts’ daughter, is not involved in the entertainment industry. Instead, she runs Pi Bake Shop. Whenever Eliza and Eric have the opportunity, they gush about their daughter’s pies and cakes.
Nowadays, Eliza and Eric Roberts have been married for almost 29 years. Their secret to their loving relationship? Honesty and “sex.” The Roberts are definitely a talented family.
