Alicia Keys is taking it to another level, going make-up-free, exploring her "Divine Feminine," and promoting the idea of exploring feminine and masculine energies - but not everyone approves.

Prolific singer Alicia Keys didn't get the response she might have wanted when she posted a makeup-free look for the BMA's on Instagram. Some fans were not exactly thrilled.

Looking like freedom itself, Keys shared an all-natural and ethereal picture of herself wearing a coral outfit. She donned a cape that flew backward as if she were soaring.

NOT LOVING THE LOOK

Although most of her followers were thrilled with her look, some fans were not having it, especially because she was not wearing make-up. One went as far as to remark:

"She looks tired."

Another relayed that they think the artist is always missing something when it comes to her style choices. One fan mentioned that they just weren't too happy with the look.

DIGGING IN

Another went into particular detail about how they don't like Keys' decision not to apply cosmetics. They expressed that they were not on board with the natural approach anymore.

Keys wondered why it is so taboo to explore one's male and female energies.

The fan implied that the timing of this type of look was off and that everyone already knows that Keys is beautiful underneath make-up. Despite all this negativity, the post did receive around 206,000 likes.

DITCHING THE BASE

Keys, however, doesn't look like she will be wearing make-up to appease the masses anytime soon. The "If I Ain't Got You" artist made a conscious decision to ditch the cover-up in 2016.

She realized she had become reliant on cosmetics to feel beautiful, and it didn't sit well with her. She claimed to be exhausted by the limitations society constantly puts on people.

GENDER AND SPIRITUALITY

Keys' journey didn't stop with defying beauty norms. She has gone on an inner voyage, trying Kundalini meditation, finding a deeper connection to her intuition as well as her inner "Divine Feminine," expressing:

"I believe the Divine Feminine is an extremely powerful force within all of us."

She expanded on this perception when her son Genesis was wary of showing off his colorful nail polish for fear of others judging him. She wondered why it is so taboo to explore one's male and female energies.

Keys once again chose to explore masculine and feminine energies with her son by enjoying face masks with Genesis - a practice generally reserved for women. She shared the cute video on Instagram.

They were using a product from the music creator's skincare line, Keys Soul Care. Taking to the caption, she soulfully expressed that she loved to spend Sundays with her son.
