5. A PRISONER

You have been sentenced to death as a prisoner. However, you had the opportunity to live by playing a simple game offered by the Emperor. You were given 50 black marbles, 50 white marbles, and two empty bowls.

After that, he said, "Split the 100 marbles between these two bowls. It doesn't matter how you divide them as long as all of the marbles are used. Once you're blindfolded, I'll mix the bowls up."

What is the best way to divide up the marbles so that you have the highest probability of choosing a white marble?

5. A prisoner: In one bowl, place a white marble, and in the other bowl, place the remaining marbles (49 whites and 50 blacks).

With this method, there is a 50/50 chance of choosing a bowl with only one white marble, and therefore life. But regardless of your choice, there's a fair chance you'll take one of the 49 white marbles.
