Faye Grant and Stephen Collins' Drama Recap — From Longterm Marriage to Messy Public Divorce

Faye Grant and Stephen Collins had one of Hollywood's most tumultuous divorce cases, but now, the two stars have seemingly moved on.

"7th Season" star Stephen Collins was married to his ex-wife actress Faye Grant for nearly three decades, during which they welcomed one daughter.

But while their marriage might have been blissful, Collins and Grant had a tumultuous divorce, leading to the revelation of a child molestation case.

GRANT AND COLLINS' MARRIAGE

Grant and Collins first met in 1982 on the set of his action series, "Tales of the Gold Monkey." There, the actress reportedly fell for his good looks. She found out the feeling was mutual, and they later started dating shortly.

A few years later, the couple tied the knot in April 1985. Four years into their marriage, Collins became a proud father when he and Grant welcomed their first and only daughter Kate in 1989.

THEIR DAUGHTER

Though Collins was already in his forties when Kate arrived, the actor embraced fatherhood wholeheartedly, and to date, nothing has changed.

Collins reportedly admitted in 1999 that his life revolved around Kate, who was only nine at the time. Grant also once described her husband as incredibly attentive when she was pregnant.

But despite their close bond, Collins never tried to pressure his daughter to become an actor like him. Instead, he allowed her to follow her dreams.

For a while, Kate pursued a career in ballet dancing until 2007, when she suffered an injury that eventually forced her to stop dancing professionally.

Two years later, Kate was involved in a car accident but fortunately had no serious injuries. Nonetheless, Collins was there for his daughter after the traumatic experience.

Over the years, Kate and Collins have given fans several memorable father-daughter moments. How her parent's marriage unfolded was, therefore, no doubt heartbreaking for her.

A NASTY DIVORCE

In 2012, after 27 years together, Collins filed for divorce, noting that Grant had been a dear wife to him and a loving mother to their daughter over the years.

The divorce filing, however, came as a surprise to Grant, who said she was blindsided. Nonetheless, she wished him well in his future endeavors.

But all these appeared to be just words as Grant and Collins soon found themselves entangled in a bitter legal feud. For starters, Grant requested for half of Collins's fortune on the grounds that the actor earned nearly $3 million a year when they were together.

She claimed the actor left her with no means of income, seeing that she gave up her acting career to take care of their daughter and could not land a job thereafter.

To this effect, Grant asked for an unspecified amount of spousal support, half of the amount in a $6 million bank account, and half the value of two luxury properties in California.

The lawsuit took a different turn in October 2014 when a tape of the actor admitting to child molestation and inappropriate sexual conduct was released.

The conversation was initially recorded by Grant, leading many to believe she leaked the tape. She, however, denied all allegations, saying she turned in the tape to the police two years before.

In the tape, Collins admitted to inappropriately touching one underage girl and exposing himself inappropriately to two others between 1973 and 1994.

Following the release of the tape, several of Collins was yanked off several of his ongoing projects, leading him to ask the court to waive his estranged wife's right to spousal support.

Collins also accused Grant of trying to extort and blackmail him with the child molestation video, but the actress quickly denied it.

They, the video however eventually settled their divorce, and only a few years later, Collins married a much younger woman Rosa Blasi with whom he shares a 40 year age difference.

Nonetheless, Collins and Blasi seem to have created a blissful life for themselves, and now, it is evident the actor has put his ugly past behind him.
