A Fourth of July party in 2018 was where Van Ness first met Wilco Froneman. Yet, as most people can relate, the television personality only felt a "BFF synergy," he told E! News.
Nevertheless, Van Ness realized that Froneman was a good catch before putting him into the friend zone. The "Queer Eye" star described him as "a six-foot-seven muscle-bound rugby player."
Van Ness eventually began dating Froneman. They traveled on romantic getaways together, including to Hawaii. Van Ness even invited Froneman as his date to the Daytime Emmy Awards.

However, after several months of dating, the two had ended their relationship. Van Ness confirmed the split in a post on social media and asked followers not to foment hatred on Froneman's page.
As for Froneman, he also commented on the split on social media. He posted a snap of himself with Van Ness and wrote that he'll always love him. Froneman called the star "the best moments of my life."
Van Ness, a non-binary, revealed his HIV status in 2019 while he was at the top of his game.

After the split, Van Ness was not showing off any relationships on his social media pages. However, in 2019, many rumors suggested that he and his "Queer Eye" co-star Anthony Porowski had been dating.
An Instagram account called "Jvntoni" was used as a mock account. People took this extremely seriously, which prompted Van Ness to take to Twitter to make everything clear once and for all.
"Also for clarification, @antoni & I are a couple.... of very close friends who run a satirical couple account and may fall in love someday, but that day is not necessarily today," Van Ness tweeted at the time.
The first time Van Ness revealed that he and Mark Peacock got married in 2020 was on social media. In January 2021, Van Ness shared more details about his marriage to Peacock.
While on a comedy tour, the star said they went on a date in London, and more dates followed. In December 2020, Van Ness revealed some exciting news to the world, sharing that he had married his "best friend."
Meanwhile, Peacock uploaded the same wedding photo as Van Ness, in addition to other candid pictures from the past year on Instagram. In the caption, he referred to Van Ness as his "one true love" and "soulmate."
