Daily Joke: Boy Wanted to Change His Name to One His Mother Would Be Proud Of

Today's jokes are all about changing a name, including a man who changed his name in honor of his mother and the name changes a working document goes through.

A STRONG NAME

Many years ago, in the 18th century, a woman was going through a difficult birth. During the labor, a nurse asked her what she would name the baby.

The new mother wanted to name her son something powerful, so she decided that "Prince" would be the perfect name. However, through the labor pains, she screamed, "riiiinNS!!"

The nurse heard "Rins," so the baby's documents read that his name was Rins. When Rins came of age, he learned the meaning behind his name and his mother's original intention to call him Prince.

So he vowed that he would do anything in his power to change his name to the name his mother had first intended. Back then, the process of changing a name was very complicated.

Nowadays, a person only needs to pay a fee, fill out documents, and wait for approval to change their name. But back then, a person had to pay per letter to change their name.

Common letters were cheaper, and groups of letters were cheaper than single ones. However, people could always swap the letter they had for other letters, but they would have to give up the letter they originally had.

Luckily, Rins was a brilliant and quick-witted man. So he finally was able to get a name that represented his roots and his mother's intentions. He gave N, I for an Eye and ended up with Reyes. What a King of negotiation.

Each time I work on my project for my job, I change the name, so I know which is the latest one. However, my desktop becomes filled with documents that read:
