Joseph C. Phillips AKA Martin from 'The Cosby Show' Is Proud Father of 3 Sons Who Are His Carbon Copies

Joseph C. Phillips of "The Cosby Show" fame is a proud father of three sons who look just like him. There is nothing he loves more than sharing lovely pictures of his beautiful moments with them.


American actor Joseph C. Phillips is famous for portraying the character of U.S. Navy Lieutenant Martin Kendall on the famous NBC sitcom "The Cosby Show."

Joseph also portrayed attorney Justus Ward on the ABC soap opera "General Hospital" from 1994 to 1998. Away from his acting career, he is a proud father of three sons, Connor, Ellis, and Samuel, who he shares with his ex-wife, Nicole Phillips.

Joseph and Nicole were married for 23 years before she filed for divorce in July 2018, citing irreconcilable differences. She also revealed they split in November 2017.

In January 2019, The Blast reported that a court had awarded Joseph spousal and child support from Nicole in their divorce despite her effort not to be made to pay.


Court documents revealed that Joseph would receive $833 per month in child support for their youngest son, Samuel, who was 17 at the time of their divorce. Nicole was also ordered to pay Joseph $5,000 to help cover his legal fees.

Despite being separated from his wife, Joseph has maintained a close bond with his three sons. He is a proud father of all of them and has often shown this via his social media posts.

The actor wrote that the night was cold but he had a great weekend with two of his sons.


In June 2019, Joseph shared an adorable picture of his three sons embracing each other as they posed for a snap. The snap showed that his oldest son, Connor, is now an officer of the US Navy.

In the snapshot, Connor posed in his military uniform while his younger brothers flanked him on either side. Joseph captioned the post:

"My three sons. #prouddad #proudfather #sons."


In another post, Joseph shared a picture of Connor and Samuel posing. Connor was clad in his all-white navy uniform while Joseph wore a navy blue suit over a white buttoned shirt and check tie.

In the post's caption, Joseph let the world know that the photo showed his first and third sons. He also used several hashtags to show that he is a proud father.


In December 2018, Joseph shared several pictures showing him, Connor, and Samuel at the Army-Navy Game. The photos showed Joseph's striking resemblance with his sons.

In the post's caption, the actor wrote that the night was cold, but he had a great weekend with two of his sons. Joseph really loves hanging out with his sons.


In September 2018, he attended the Netflix Emmy 2018 Awards Party with his third son, Samuel. He shared a photo of them at the party showing off their resemblance as they posed all smiles for the snapshot, which he captioned:

"Partying with number 3 son at the #netflix #emmys2018 party. Had a great time. #13reasonswhy."


In 2016, he also shared a snapshot of him and Connor at the Reagan Round Table. The picture showed Joseph and his firstborn son posing beside each other and looking like a fierce tag team as they did.

He advised Cosby to live a quiet country life.

Away from his family, Joseph is fondly remembered for his starring role in "The Cosby Show." Lately, the show's creator and star, Bill Cosby, was released from prison after a Pennsylvania court overturned his indecent assault conviction.


In 2015, Joseph gave his take on Cosby's legal battles by saying people would find it difficult to reconcile the recently-released actor's legacy of good works with his flawed character following the accusations of rape against him.

Joseph also shared his opinion on Cosby in a blog post he wrote titled "Of Course Bill Is Guilty." He said Cosby was his childhood idol and had a profound influence on his life.

In the concluding part of the post, Joseph said Cosby's good works over the years was real and enduring. He

advised Cosby

to live a quiet country life so that people like him who truly loved him could preserve a little bit of their enchantment.
