Truth about Kim Kardashian’s Masked Mystery Date at the Met Gala
Kim Kardashian had fans buzzing when she made her entrance at the 2021 Met Gala. Many wondered if the mystery hand on her arm was Kanye West's or perhaps someone else's.
Many Kimye fans were surprised to see Kim Kardashian with a mystery man who looked eerily like Kanye West, at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on Monday, September 13, 2021.
The Met Gala was finally held after the COVID-19 pandemic caused the prestigious event to be canceled in 2020. The gala was pushed to September this year, as it usually is scheduled for May 1.

The reality star also sparked many conversations online for her interesting and dramatic carpet look; an all-black Balenciaga look made up of a bodysuit, T-shirt dress, and a long cape. The look saw her covered from head to toe.
However, many more fans were curious about who the equally covered mystery man accompanying her was. Some suspected it was her estranged husband, Kanye West.

However, a source revealed that West was not in attendance at the gala. Therefore many fans were left wondering who the mystery man was. But outlets have revealed that it was none other than the fashion designer, Demna Gvasalia.
It is very fitting that Gvasalia accompanied the reality star as he is the creative director of Balenciaga. For his outfit, Gvasalia wore an all-black baggy sweatsuit with a full-coverage mask and a pair of black slippers.
The source referred to the dramatic look as the beginning of a new fashion era for Kardashian.

According to The Times, Gvasalia lives in rural Switzerland and has been a vital part of the luxury brand as he has "banked an estimated $1 billion for the French fashion house."
Although Gvasalia and Balenciaga might be taking credit for the actual outfits, a source revealed to E! News that West had a big part to play in collaboration as he introduced Kardashian to the fashion designer.
The source elaborated and explained that although West was not physically at the gala, his presence was felt through Kardashian and Gvasalia's look since he was “instrumental in the newly formed relationship.”
Besides introducing the pair, the source shared that West encouraged Kardashian to push the boundaries of creativity and people's imagination through art and, in this case, through fashion.
The source referred to the dramatic look as the beginning of a new fashion era for Kardashian. It formed a part of a subcultural and fashion statement because even without a logo or her face, people are aware it is her.
The SKIMS founder has adorned BDSM-inspired looks, similar to her Met Gala look, in recent weeks. For New York Fashion Week, the reality star wore a head-to-toe leather look and a matching face mask.
