JFK Was Not the Only Member of the Kennedy Clan Who Allegedly Had an Affair with Marilyn Monroe
Before they tragically passed, JFK and Marilyn Monroe were plagued by rumors of an illicit affair. Letters between the pair, Monroe's diary, and even JFK's sister confirmed their relationship.
Few rumors spread about Marilyn Monroe were ever confirmed or denied, but bits of information released over the years paint its own picture.
One of these rumors was that Marilyn Monroe slept with both John. F. Kennedy and his brother Robert Kennedy. Many sources such as FBI warnings, Monroe’s diary, and faked letters might shed light on these rumors.

THE AFFAIR
During the 50s, when JFK was president and Marilyn Monroe was the sex symbol of the moment, all eyes were on the two public figures. However, the remarks about the two were not always kind.
Many believed at the time that President JFK and Marilyn Monroe were having an affair. Rumors swirled for months and came to a head when Monroe famously sang ‘Happy Birthday to JFK in 1962.

While many of the rumors focused only on the president and Miss Monroe, other stories said that Monroe was not only sleeping with the president but that she was also sleeping with his younger brother, Attorney General Robert Kennedy.
At the time of these rumors, Monroe’s personal life had begun to unravel. She had been divorced thrice and had never become a mother, which was one of her biggest desires in life, so it made the stories a little more believable.

In 1962, the year of Monroe’s death, the rumors had well and truly become uncontrollable, and many people had begun to speculate about the relationship between Monroe and the two brothers, but there was little to no proof.
There is only one known photograph of Marilyn Monroe and JFK. Incidentally, Monroe’s only photo with JFK is also the only photo that Marilyn Monroe has with JFK’s brother, Robert.

THE SOURCES
While JFK and Monroe were alive, very little evidence existed that the two had only ever had a platonic relationship. There was even less evidence to suggest that Monroe had an affair with Robert Kennedy.
However, after JFK and Monroe had died, several sources came forward claiming evidence that proved that the brothers had had illicit affairs with the sex symbol of the 50s. None of these were ever proven, though.

One of the sources claimed the FBI notified the Kennedy brothers that Monroe was writing a book that exposed the relationships that she was having with them both.
It was said that the affair between Kennedy and Monroe was well-known among the press and those in the know. However, despite the apparent significant number of those who knew about the affair, it never reached the press.

It was also said that the affair was never publicized because it would have taken JFK down as president. An affair at any time in your life is something you would never want people to know about, but it is ten times worse than the President of the United States.
Another source said letters between the Kennedys and Monroe that proved that they were having an affair. However, it was later confirmed that Lawrence Cusack III had forged these letters.

Cusack was said to have forged the letters and defrauded investors by selling shares in the letters for up to $7 million at the time. However, when proven that all of the documents had been forged, this source was dismissed.
Monroe’s biography author, Donald Spoto, said that from his dealings with Monroe, it was pretty apparent that she was having an affair with one or both of the Kennedys. However, she never divulged the information directly to Spoto, and it was therefore never confirmed.

In her biography, the affairs are mentioned, but in no more detail than they ever have been before. Nobody knew what happened between Monroe and the Kennedy brothers besides Monroe and the Kennedy brothers themselves.
Jean Kennedy Smith, sister to John and Robert Kennedy, allegedly revealed that JFK and Monroe had been an item in the early sixties but said nothing further about the rumored affair with Robert Kennedy.

THE DEATHS
Monroe and Kennedy passed away within one year of each other. Monroe passed away in August 1962, and Kennedy was assassinated in November 1963. Both deaths happened under mysterious circumstances, further contributing to the rumors.
Monroe was found dead in her bedroom in August of 1962 by her housekeeper at the time. The housekeeper claimed that she had been found naked on the bed after saying that they would not be going to the beach the next day.

Having been found at midnight and the police only being called at around 4:30 a.m., people thought it might have been something other than the potential suicide claim that the police had made once they assessed the situation.
Some believed that the police had been called because the Kennedys had something to do with her tragic death. Others thought it was impossible that she committed suicide because she had no water to swallow the pills that allegedly killed her.

JFK’s assassination is still widely spoken about and debated today, but that doesn’t make it any less tragic. The death of both these prolific figures is something that will not be forgotten soon.
We still have no concrete proof about whether or not JFK and Monroe had an affair, and the same is true for Monroe and Robert Kennedy. One sure thing, though, is that the general public loves a good scandal.
