Over the years, society has grown to accept a diverse sense of fashion, with outfits being more revealing than they were before.

However, there are still certain types of clothing only appropriate for occasions, including funerals, to keep the event solemn. Usually, people go with smart casual outfits for such events.

Still, a young woman chose to wear a revealing outfit to her grandfather’s internment and posted photos of herself on social media. She wrote:

“Tho it’s a sad day I have the right to dress how I feel and tbh if you have got it flaunt it? Exactly, plus if my grandfather were still alive I know he’d approve [sic].”

Although originally posted on Facebook, someone shared the post on Reddit. The initial post showed a comment from a person who decided to call the girl out. He wrote:

“[...] People are there to pay respects to your grandfather and do you really feel good about making them uncomfortable when it’s already a really terrible occasion?”

The woman replied to the comment, saying that the day was not about how other people felt, so it did not matter. She also questioned the person for commenting as they had never met.

Like the Facebook post, many on Reddit had the exact comment on the woman’s outfit and claimed it was illogical for her to not care about what others thought, yet post about her outfit online.

Choosing smart and respectful clothing is also a consideration to show respect to the grieving family.

Meanwhile, others made light of the situation and laughed about it. “You never know when you’re going to find an eligible bachelor at your grandpa’s funeral. Gotta come prepared,” one person quipped.

Funerals are among the saddest events that bring people together to mourn and respect the deceased and their families. As such, it is important to show empathy when attending a burial.

Among the things to consider when attending a funeral is color choice. Although black is the more common choice of clothing, other dark tones can be worn.

Choosing smart and respectful clothing is also a consideration to show respect to the grieving family. This means revealing outfits should be worn elsewhere.

Wearing jewelry is also accepted. However, it is best to keep it to a minimum and leave the flashy accessories at home. Finally, apart from clothing, proper behavior should also be observed, i.e., one should be quiet.
