Stranger Donates Kidney to Father of 4 and Saves His Life after Seeing a Flyer: 'I Had a Spare'
Something as beautiful and unique as a donated kidney has connected two complete strangers in Chicago. A woman named Lisa Segura immediately answered a call for donation, thus saving the life of Julian Ortiz, a father of four kids.
There is no dearth of helpful, loving souls in this world, and Lisa happens to be one of them. Julian and Lisa met only two months back, but the special bond they've forged will last them a lifetime.
Julian and his entire family are extremely grateful to Lisa for donating her kidney and helping them at a time when they didn't have much hope, especially with his deteriorating health.

The father of four has spent the majority of his life fighting an auto-immune disease. Glomerulonephritis started consuming his body from within, and he got so weak that he was unable to move. Julian's wife, Claribel, shared her thoughts on the matter:
"She's impacted the life of our children (sic). They see her as a hero. She saved their daddy."
Owing to his health condition, he was almost bedridden, with his legs swollen and severe body ache. The doctors then told him that his survival was dependent upon a kidney transplant, and he struggled with that thought for almost two years.
Recalling the bitter memories, Claribel shared how she got to a point where there was only despair. Her kids put a sign on their car which read, "our daddy needs a kidney." She even tried videos and put up flyers for the cause, and one of them was seen by Lisa, who added:
“I took a picture of it and I just applied. I thought, what the [expletive]? Why not?”
Lisa saw one of the flyers that the Ortiz family had put up at the Midway Baseball Association. This was the place where they both worked as coaches but had never interacted before.

Fortunately, Lisa's kidney was a perfect match, who donated her organ right away without second thoughts. She shared that she could never imagine her children having to live without her and didn't wish that for Julian either. Lisa also said:
“I was like, ‘Wow, there’s a piece of me literally in his body now.’”
Following the successful kidney transplant, Lisa and Julian forged an iron-strong bond. Julian also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the guardian angel who gave him another chance at life when he had no hope.

While we hardly notice flyers, notices, and other important signs on vehicles, sometimes just one glance can help us make a difference in someone's life, just like Lisa and Julian.
