Brooke Malycha had always been on the heavier side growing up. At the age of 14, she already weighed 198 pounds and grew heavier as time passed.

According to the mother-of-six, her unhealthy eating habits and laziness were the root causes of weight gain. She recalled having fizzy drinks for breakfast and fast food paired with sweets before bed.

At one point, she reached 373 pounds and wore a size 30. However, her dying mother’s words made Malycha turn her life around and shed the excess weight. She shared:

“I drank all types of soft drinks every day. I had no reason for it. It was uncomfortable [...] I made poor food choices that just got out of hand.”

Malycha’s mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer and feared her daughter’s obesity would shorten her life. The mom explicitly told Malycha that her size would be the cause of her death.

Her mom’s words sparked a light that made Malycha want to seek a better lifestyle, but after trying several diets with no success, she went to a doctor for advice.

In 2019, Malycha underwent Gastric sleeve surgery as suggested by her doctor. At that point, she wanted to save her life the fastest way possible, and going under the knife was the best solution. She shared:

“For me, it was to show her that I could do it before she would pass away and that I would make a lifestyle change that would be beneficial for myself and for my children.”

Undergoing weight loss surgery was just a bridge to real discipline. Malycha also changed her lifestyle to stay in shape and began consuming a healthy balanced diet coupled with exercise. After surgery in 2019, she focused on swimming, doing more cardio, and going to the gym.

Similarly, Sorec was a chubby girl growing up and struggled to fit in with her classmates.

She later attended F45 classes and focused on weight training while getting her cardio from achieving her daily step count. In 2020, Malycha lost a significant amount of weight before her mother passed away, weighing only 212 pounds.

Changing her lifestyle has done wonders beyond physical appearance. According to Malycha, she has more energy and is more involved in her children’s activities.

Malycha hopes to inspire others like her to kickstart their own weight loss journey, claiming that if she can do it, so can anyone. Another woman like Malycha who has inspired others to get into fitness is Chantelle Sorec.

Similarly, Sorec was a chubby girl growing up and struggled to fit in with her classmates. As a teen, she had schoolmates bully her because of her size and clothes.

Eventually, Sorec’s bullies became her biggest motivators to lose weight through diet and exercise. She has since dropped five dress sizes and considers herself a fitness enthusiast.
