From a very young age, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt wanted to be called John. Therefore, when Brad Pitt's mother bought girly clothes for her, Angelina Jolie got understandably angry.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were some of the most headline-grabbing Hollywood super-couples between the mid-2000s and late-2010s, especially after rumors that Pitt cheated on his then-wife Jennifer Aniston while filming "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" were everywhere.

"Brangelina," how the media dubbed them, raised six children and parted ways in 2016. Out of their kids, the one who has attracted more attention is Shiloh Jolie-Pitt.

CALL ME JOHN

Born in May 2006, Shiloh is Jolie and Pitt's first biological kid. The first time she attracted people's attention was in 2008 when Pitt talked about his children in an interview with Oprah Winfrey. At the time, Shiloh was just over two years old.

The "World War Z" star initially said that life with six kids required a lot of planning as even something as simple as going on a car trip was an ordeal.

Getting everyone in the vehicle with their seat belts on would take about 30 minutes, let alone preparing snacks for everyone and ensuring each kid had everything they needed, like Zahara's blanket and Shiloh's silky.

Pitt credited Jolie for being "militant" and on top of it, especially because he kept forgetting things. Although Pitt's confession gave a fascinating peek at Brangelina's family life, what he said about Shiloh grabbed more headlines. He revealed:

"[Shiloh] only wants to be called John. John or Peter. So, it's a Peter Pan thing. So, we've got to call her John. 'Shi, do you want…' – 'John. I'm John.'"

Pitt also showed support for her daughter by saying that, while it was probably "obnoxious" to other people, it was cute for him and Jolie as parents.

OUTCAST IN THE FAMILY

It was not the first time that Shiloh attracted people's attention, though. In late 2007, Jolie confessed that since her daughter looked like Pitt — with blond and blue eyes — she would probably be the outcast in the family.

Jolie admitted that she felt more for Shiloh's adopted older siblings, Maddox, Zahara, and Pax, because they were "survivors" and went through "so much." Instead, Shiloh has been privileged since she was born.

Shiloh liked both tracksuits and regular suits and would also wear ties, jackets, and slacks.

She added that she met her adopted kids when they were six months old, so they already came with a specific personality. On the other hand, she gave birth to Shiloh, and she described newborns as "blobs."

Still, Jolie admitted she needed to make sure not to ignore Shiloh's needs just because the rest of her children were more vulnerable to her eyes.

DRESSING LIKE A BOY

In 2010, Jolie graced the cover of Vanity Fair and, apart from talking about her career and physical appearance, she also shared more details about Shiloh and her wardrobe.

After describing her as hysterically funny and one of the goofiest and most playful people ever, Jolie said that her daughter liked to dress like a boy and had a "Montenegro style."

At the time, Shiloh liked both tracksuits and regular suits and would also wear ties, jackets, and slacks. Jolie pointed out that Shiloh wanted to be a boy and thought she was one of the brothers, too, so they cut her hair to make her happy.

The "Maleficent" star admitted that one of the favorite things her family did at the time was sleeping, so Pitt was considering building a room just for family sleep.

About the rest of her kids, Jolie said Maddox was quite intelligent and would probably be a writer, Zahara had an extraordinary voice, Vivienne was very feminine, and Knox was "a little dude."

ISSUES WITH PITT'S MOM

It is important to point out that Jolie has always supported LGBTQ rights, so when Pitt's mom, Jane, tried to influence Shiloh to have her wear conventionally girly clothes, the actress reportedly got furious.

In 2012, years after Pitt and Jolie had already talked to the media about Shiloh's clothing and name preferences, Jane supposedly bought her granddaughter fairy costumes and princess dresses. As expected, Jolie considered it disrespectful.

In recent years, Shiloh's style has attracted plenty of attention.

It was not the first time that Jane and Jolie butted heads, though. Jane publicly supported Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney even though he opposed gay marriage.

Jane even released an open letter urging "all Christians" to vote for Romney. She described him as a family man with high morals who, as a Mormon, was against abortion and shared "Christian convictions" about homosexuality.

Jolie, who always avoided talking about politics with Jane, supposedly asked Pitt to tell his mom not to share her opinions on that matter as it would set a poor example to her grandkids.

GETTING MORE SUPPORT

Jane may have disliked Shiloh's wardrobe, but Jolie and Pitt's daughter received support from an unexpected source: Chaz Bono, Cher and Sonny Bono's son who was known as Chastity before transitioning.

Chaz once admitted that his mother didn't adjust to his transition right away and wasn't entirely comfortable with it initially, but she was slowly moving in the right direction.

Around the same time that Shiloh's clothing preferences made headlines, Chaz was volunteering for a support group focused on helping children with gender identity issues and their families.

He pointed out that although he didn't know Jolie or Pitt and wouldn't assume anything about Shiloh, he would have loved to talk to them about all the resources and information he and his support group had gathered about gender identity.

In recent years, Shiloh's style has attracted plenty of attention. In 2019, she was spotted several times rocking oversized hoodies and her trademark pixie cut. However, Shiloh was photographed in denim shorts, a black hoodie, Converse shoes, and her hair in a high ponytail in early 2021.

At the moment, she is 15 years old and has been seen hanging out with a very famous friend: "Stranger Things" star Millie Bobby Brown. Only time will tell if she will follow in her parents' footsteps and be an actress.
