Charles Barkley's Wife Maureen Blumhardt Keeps Her Life Private despite Being on Social Media

Maureen Blumhardt has been Charles Barkley's wife for over thirty years, and the couple is still going strong. Admittedly, they've had their share of challenges, including when Charles was twice accused of infidelity.

Retired NBA star Charles Barkley built an enduring reputation as one of the best basketball players of his time. Although his love life also made headlines, particularly in the '90s, a lesser-known part of his life is his wife, Maureen Blumhardt.

As an interracial couple, Maureen and Charles faced much scrutiny over their pairing, which Charles has previously addressed. That hurdle passed, but the media would still hover over other issues in their marriage in the years to come.

Maureen Blumhardt Is a Bit of a Mystery

Since marrying Charles thrust her into the limelight, little has been learned about Maureen beyond her relationship with him. She has a Facebook page that's been active since the early 2010s, where she has shared photos of her family and friends, though mostly without captions.

Now and then, Maureen also would share pictures from her childhood, her daughter's younger days, and snaps of herself or her dogs. Still, the only info about her on her page reveals where she lives: Scottsdale, Arizona. It should be noted, however, that she last posted on FB in 2020.

Apart from personal posts, several others indicate her contribution to charitable causes and foundations, including Music for Autism and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Additionally, Maureen is an honorary member of the Auxiliary Board for the Fresh Start non-profit.

Maureen also has an account on X (formerly Twitter), but her posts are mostly jokes. One read, "I went through TSA. It's safe to say that I was not carrying a weapon and that I don't have anal cancer."

In another, she wrote, "If anyone sees me jogging up Scottsdale Rd., please kill whatever is chasing me!" And in another, she said, "Although I am perpetually early... I set all of my clocks ahead to avoid being late. All it's done is sharpen my subtraction skills." Maureen last posted on X in May 2022.

Charles Barkley on His Marriage with Maureen Blumhardt

Charles and Maureen have been married since 1989. In his 2002 memoir, "I May Be Wrong, But I Doubt It," Charles addresses the prejudices placed on his relationship with Maureen. The couple faced criticism for dating outside their race, which Charles described as mostly ignorant.

Among those criticisms were people saying, "Well, your kids will suffer." Charles admitted that was true but added, "Of course, they only suffer because people put their prejudices off on the kids. So yeah, kids suffer because adults are hateful."

On a more positive note, in May 2022, Charles spoke about what made his marriage last as long as it has. The former NBA legend said throughout the negative things that can influence a relationship (outside frustrations, jealousy, etc.), his wife accepted him "flaws and all."

Charles Barkley Accused of Cheating

In the early 1990s, several reports of Charles being romantically involved with Madonna. The rumors led to severe media harassment of Charles' family and his in-laws. Madonna reportedly only added fuel to the fire whenever she addressed the matter publicly.

In one interview, when asked who she would choose as her father's child between Damon Wayans, Denzel Washington, and Charles, she responded, "Charles Barkley is God." Charles denied all allegations and was later linked to his former friend and colleague, Connie Colla.

He and Colla both shut down the rumors. Maureen never commented on the allegations against her husband. Instead, they kept their relationship private and raised their daughter, Christiana Barkley. Christiana, a New York-based journalist, is happily married to Ilya Hoffman.
