A woman received the most unexpected surprise of her life when she discovered that the daughter she had thought was dead a long time ago was alive, and wished to be reunited with her biological mother.

Losing a loved one, especially a child leaves a void that can never be filled. No matter how much time passes by, the pain never subsides, making it all the more difficult for parents to cope with the irreparable loss of their precious child.

Genevieve Purinton gave birth to a baby girl in Gary, Indiana in 1949. However, when she gained consciousness and asked to see her little princess, she was told that her daughter didn't survive.

Purinton, who was only 18 years old at the time, was devastated and heartbroken after learning the sad news. It was also the only time she had given birth. Talking to NBC, she said:

"I asked to see the baby and they said she died, that’s all I remember."

What Purinton was unaware of was that her daughter, Connie Moultroup, was alive and had been adopted by a family in Santa Barbara, California. Unfortunately, her adoptive mother died when she was but 4 or 5 years old.

Soon afterward, her father remarried, and everything changed in her life. Moultroup was only a teenager when she lost her father, so she was brought up by her stepmother.

She now had a daughter, a granddaughter, and two great-grandchildren.

Unfortunately, her relationship with her stepmom was anything but warm and kind, which made her long for her birth mother. Moultroup yearned to meet her biological mom and hoped she would come out of somewhere and save her from all the misery.

Moultroup got married and started her family life, but the longing to meet her biological mother never went away. It was not until one Christmas when her daughter, Bonnie Chase, gave her a present that changed her life forever. Chase further explained:

"I never met my own biological father, and growing up, it was just me and my mom. I remember mom trying to find her birth mother, and it was hard to see her go through that.”

As it turned out, Chase had given her mom an Ancestry DNA kit that would help her trace her true origins. Chase opted for the test first, the results of which led her to a few cousins, who told her about Purinton.

Finally one day, Moultroup received a surprising phone call, and the person on the other end asked her a simple question: "Where were you born? What year?" Ultimately, all the answers led to one big revelation, shared by Purinton:

"I think, I'm your mother."

Moultroup, who had always longed to see her biological mom, couldn't believe what had happened. After a few phone conversations, she decided to meet Purinton at her assisted living center in North Tampa in 2018.

The moment Purinton hugged her long-lost and supposedly dead daughter, she was overwhelmed with motherly sentiments. Moultroup couldn't help feel a whirlpool of emotions sweeping over her as she melted in her mom's warm embrace.

Purinton was no more a woman who had lost eight siblings and her only child. She now had a daughter, a granddaughter, and two great-grandchildren. Life can truly amaze us with miracles when we least expect them.
