Kingston McGill missed his father to death, hoping that he would return alive and in good shape. Little did he know that he was about to experience one of the most memorable moments of his entire life.

In 2019, a 10-year-old Kingston was about to receive a tear-jerking surprise that would leave him in a state of disbelief and tears.

If anyone deserved this beautiful moment, it was this young boy who had been battling a rare brain condition.

A CONSTANT BATTLE

This life-threatening issue is called Arteriovenous Malformations (AVMs), which cause the brain's vessels to tangle. At that time, he had suffered three aneurysms as a result.

The condition is anxiety-provoking for any parent because one headache could become an emergency with unknown consequences.

On top of dealing with such an overwhelming disorder at such a young age, Kingston also faced another obstacle.

KINGSTON'S SUPERHERO

This 10-year-old took on the challenge of coping with his navy commander, dad's absence, who had been deployed to West Africa. Talking about his father, the young boy said he wants to follow in his father's footsteps, to, as he expressed:

"..help them and protect them."

Nevertheless, no matter how inspired he was by his father, 38-year-old Jesse McGill's vocation, Kingston missed his dad dearly, who at the time had been gone for just over seven months.

NOTHING HAPPENING HERE

It was like any other day at school when Kingston was suddenly told he would be receiving a surprise. The boy could never have imagined what was about to happen.

As his dad walked through the door, Kingston was immediately overcome with emotion. He ran towards his dad shrieking and crying as McGill got on his knees and pulled him in for a hug.

AN EMOTIONAL REUNION

His son was unwilling to let go of his father as the robust exterior of the navy man broke down, his eyes filling up with tears. McGill recollected:

“I felt so relieved that I was finally there to protect him again and that he wouldn’t have to face any challenges without me.”

The dad said leaving his wife and Kingston's mother Jesse McGill to look after their child on her lonesome was incredibly difficult for him.

TIME FOR SOME EXCITEMENT

As a boy of his age would, Kingston described this reunion purely, innocently, and without overdone pretense, simply saying:

"It was just so much fun."

Understanding the massive nature of the boy's dad coming home, the school said he could take the day off. Hopefully, Kingston grabbed the opportunity and spent the rest of the day soaking in the beauty of having his father back home.
