Family Saves Unclothed Newborn Abandoned in an Apartment Complex
In a bizarre event in Memphis, a newborn baby was found abandoned in an apartment complex but fortunately saved by a kind family.
According to the Memphis Police Department, an abandoned infant boy was discovered in the 2900 block of Mimosa Ave. in the Binghampton neighborhood on Wednesday evening.
The newborn baby was found around 5 p.m. December 8, and authorities believe he was abandoned. A heartwarming video shared on social media captured the moment the infant was saved by a kind family who was moved by compassion upon seeing him helpless.

Reports believe the abandoned baby had just been born and was possibly abandoned a few hours after he was born. The baby's umbilical cord was still attached to his body in the video taken from his rescue.
The stranger who rescued the baby was then seen providing comfort and warmth to the child. He was later taken to a children's hospital and is believed to be non-critical.
A few hours after the baby was rescued, authorities announced that they had located his mother, but at the time of her discovery, no arrest was made, and investigations were said to be ongoing.
MORE DETAILS EMERGE
According to authorities, two women were later seen in an argument in an apartment in Binghamton, with one reportedly yelling, "that was your baby, why would you do that?" to the other. Police authorities are yet to understand the circumstance of the statement but are on the lookout for more details.
Edison Hagan, who lives nearby, couldn't believe something like this had happened in his neighborhood. According to him, he had only rumors of such stories but never thought it could happen so close to him.
Police authorities are concerned with the reason why the baby was abandoned and left in an unhealthy condition—stories of babies being abandoned by their parents have been increasing in recent months.

LEGAL POLICY
The Safe Haven policy in Tennessee permits women to surrender healthy newborns to specified facilities within two weeks of birth without fear of being arrested.
The law was enacted in order to limit the number of babies who were abandoned in an unsafe manner. Nevertheless, Memphis Police have not said if the law applies in this case. Investigators also haven't said if one or both of the child's parents will face charges.

EMPATHY FROM THE PUBLIC
Despite the gravity of the situation, Hagan is preaching leniency for the child's parents or whoever abandoned him. He believes the parent must have acted out of impulse and should be shown mercy.
The news has left social media users in shock, and some users extended their prayers and thoughts to the baby and his mother.
