Keshia Knight Pulliam Isn't Ready for a Baby with New Husband after Getting Divorced during 1st Pregnancy
Keshia Knight is not ready to be a second-time mother. The star who rose to fame as Rudy Huxtable on the NBC sitcom "The Cosby Show" opened up about her fertility journey on a new OWN documentary "Eggs Over Easy."
Keshia Knight Pulliam is seeking an alternative route to parenting. At 43, the star has decided she wants her eggs frozen because even though she knows she wants to be a mother again, now is not the right time for her.
The mother of one had her first child at 38. She thought she had plenty of time and hoped to have another baby right after. However, life took a drastic turn, and she got divorced.
PREGNANCY AND DIVORCE
Pulliam and her ex-husband, former NFL player Ed Hartwell, shocked their fans when they married at the start of 2016, after dating for four months.
Several months after their new year wedding and only a week after announcing they were pregnant, Hartwell filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.
They later finalized their divorce, and Pulliam got primary custody of their daughter. Hartwell got visitation rights and was required to pay a monthly child support of $3,007.
The couple also had to find a middle ground concerning their daughter's name. While both wanted little Ella Grace to carry their respective last names, they reached a concession and agreed that she would have a hyphenated name.
FINDING LOVE AMID A CRISIS
While getting her life back on track after the messy divorce, Pulliam was lucky enough to, once again, find love. She met her now-husband Brad James in 2019, on " Pride and Prejudice: Atlanta."
Pulliam disclosed that there had been plenty of downtimes while shooting the movie, and they would often find themselves in the van or on cast seats talking. They soon hit it off.
The "For Better, For Worse" alum proposed in late 2020, and the lovebirds walked down the aisle in September 2021. They married in the presence of family.
In an Instagram post commemorating her big day, the "Beauty Shop" actress thanked those in attendance for celebrating with them. She was also grateful to her husband for renewing her vulnerability and faith in unconditional love. She wrote:
"Most of all, thank you to @mrbradjames, my amazing husband, my person, my soulmate."
Even though the ceremony was far from the colossal destination wedding they had in mind, Pulliam says it was magical and hopes for a long life filled with love.
