The Grammy-winning singer and songwriter died at 75 after suffering a stroke, according to ABC News.
His family announced his death in a statement: "In this deeply difficult moment, the family asks for privacy as they mourn the loss of a beloved husband, father, family member, friend and artist whose impact extended far beyond the stage."

The family also shared details about Bryson's final moments:
"He transitioned peacefully at 5:00 p.m. ET on the evening of Tuesday, June 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and those closest to him."
The statement also thanked fans, friends, and colleagues worldwide for their support, prayers, and messages.
They added that although their hearts are broken, they find comfort in knowing how deeply Bryson was loved and how many lives were touched by his voice and generous spirit. His family said his legacy and music will live on for generations.
Bryson's passing comes shortly after a concerning health update and just weeks after he celebrated his birthday with his loved ones.

As previously reported, Bryson celebrated his 75th birthday surrounded by family and friends in an Instagram post shared in April 2026.
Photos from the gathering showed Bryson smiling beside large silver "75" balloons, posing with loved ones, and celebrating with a custom cake marking the occasion.

According to a statement provided to CBS News Atlanta on May 31, Bryson's representative said:
"Two-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and balladeer, Peabo Bryson — the voice behind the Oscar-winning Disney songs 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'A Whole New World' — has suffered a stroke and is currently under medical care."

The family asked for privacy while Bryson undergoes treatment.
