EIGHT AND IN LOVE

Momoa fell in love with the actress years before they met. During his appearance on "The Late Late Show with James Corden," Momoa revealed that his crush on Bonet began while she was still on "The Cosby Show" in 1987. He said:

"Ever since I was eight years old and I saw her on TV, I was like, 'Mommy, I want that one!' I'm like, 'I'm going to stalk you for the rest of my life, and I'm going to get you."

Although he didn't tell his little secret to Bonet until they had kids, as Momoa did not want to look weird and creepy, his dreams came true when he was in his twenties. He met Bonet by change at a Los Angeles jazz club in 2004.

CROSSING PATHS

The pair were introduced through mutual friends, but it wasn't love at first sight. According to Bonet, Momoa, 13 years her junior, needed a ride home that evening, and she was kind enough to give him one. Before dropping him off, Bonet and Momoa stopped at a cafe and bonded over drinks.

They were together since that day. "I can't say it was full-on from the moment we saw each other, but we have been together from the day that we met," Bonet once revealed. While at the café, they started falling in love, and Momoa didn't run away like what the actress was used to from other men.

She liked that Momoa stood up for family and love. Growing up with an absent father made her appreciate Momoa's efforts as a kind leader with a great work ethic. Momoa also had the chance to share his recollection of their first meeting.

"We just happened to be at the right place, right time, mutual friends," he said. The "Aquaman" star also revealed that he had dreadlocks for her, just as she did. He was so happy when they met that he struggled to stay calm. Momoa recalled turning to his friend and pretending to scream from excitement like a teen girl.

Sadly, the couple's relationship saw its end amidst the pandemic. In an Instagram post, Momoa revealed that they are 'parting ways in marriage.'

Eventually, the couple decided to tie the knot. Outlets have reported different wedding dates, but according to Us Weekly, they only made it official in 2017. According to a source, the pair secured a marriage license on October 2, 2017, and married a week later.

GETTING MARRIED

The couple tried to keep their 2017 marriage a secret, but the paparazzi leaked the celebration. Despite waiting over a decade to make things official, the "Game of Thrones" actor said that he had been married to Bonet for 12 years at that time.

He described the intimate wedding as a gathering of their families to celebrate their love. He also constantly referred to Bonet as his wife and bride throughout their relationship.

Momoa and Bonet continued pursuing their acting careers during their time as lovers. She appeared on "Ray Donovan" and "Girls," while he starred in "Frontier," "Justice League," and "Aquaman." They even appeared together in a Super Bowl commercial for Rocket Mortgage.

PARTING WAYS

The pair have spoken fondly of each other several times. Once, Momoa even gushed in an interview, "When I got to know her, she was the woman of my dreams [...]. I think I'd be in a whole worse place if I didn't have a beautiful wife and children."

Sadly, the couple's relationship saw its end amidst the pandemic. Momoa revealed that they are "parting ways in marriage in a now-deleted Instagram post." He wrote:

"We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding ~and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring."

BONET'S PREVIOUS DIVORCE

This is not the first time Bonet is separating from a lover. Previously, she was married to and divorced with Lenny Kravitz, with whom she shares a daughter, Zoe. At that time, Bonet revealed that her heart was "blown open from just loving someone so much."

Although their breakup caused Bonet's heartbreak, she eventually became friends with Kravitz. They became a blended family when Momoa entered her life and became a step-father to Zoe. In a previous interview, Zoe said:

"My dad and stepdad get along really well, and my dad loves and is close with my [step] brother and sister. It's really beautiful."

In 2021, Kravitz even paid tribute to Momoa for his 42nd birthday. He greeted the actor through an Instagram post and took pride in calling Moma his "brother." Unfortunately, their blended family dynamics may have changed following the big announcement.
