DIVIDED OPINIONS

While it remains unknown why the boy was holding a placard with such a sign, people have not stopped giving their thoughts on the issue.

Some people lauded the parents for teaching their son a valuable lesson. One TikTok user in support of the parents' actions said:

"If you disagree with this as a form of punishment, you’re soft lmao. Kid needs to learn his lesson."

Meanwhile, some other users criticized the parents for making their son hold a sign in public. One user who reacted to a New York Post tweet about the video commented:

"Parenting is a work in progress but humiliating a child will only make him bitter not better."

The user suggested that they would have used the time the parents used in humiliating the boy to make him volunteer at a food pantry, homeless shelter, hospital, or any worthy cause, before adding that two wrongs do not make a right.

Another user wrote, "Humiliation. Wonder how that's gonna work out." Another TikToker said humiliating kids is traumatic, especially when they have not developed fully. The user concluded by saying children who act out tend to have something wrong at home.

It is not surprising for people to have divided opinions on the issue. However, hopefully, the boy learns his lessons and does not react negatively to his parents' actions.
