When a mother dropped her son off at school, she noticed a lot of activity and asked him if she had missed an event. When she discovered what was happening, she did something special to brighten her son's day.

A usual school drop-off turned into an unexpected morning of fun for the Vasquez family in 2016. When a Texas single mom saw lots of cars in the school parking lot, she asked her son about it.

Twelve-year-old Elijah told his mother that the school hosted its annual "Donuts With Dad" social event. Yevette Vasquez could not bear to see her son miss out, so she quickly suggested a plan.

HER SON'S EXCITEMENT

Vasquez shared: "I told him, 'How come you didn't tell me?' and joked I could've dressed up as a man for him." The mother was stunned when her son's face lit up at her suggestion.

Elijah told her that she had ten minutes to execute the plan before the school day started. Vasquez added.

"When I saw how excited he was about it, I decided to follow through."

SHE DRESSED UP FOR HIM

The mother rushed home and changed into a plaid shirt and baseball cap paired with a fake mustache. When she entered the library where the event was held, she received an unexpected reaction.

The fathers cheered for her, and Elijah enjoyed the attention. The smile on his face was undeniable as he ate donuts and socialized with the other kids. He also told his mother to share some photos of their day online.

THE ONLINE REACTION

On her Facebook page, Vasquez wrote: "I know seeing other dads with their kids isn't easy for mine, but [it's] life. At least I can do whatever it takes to put a smile on that face." Her post quickly went viral, and thousands of people applauded her.

The meaningful gesture sparked an online conversation about parenting and the importance of being there for your children. One user said: "You are the epitome of a good mother." Another added: "I bet that's something he will never forget."

SETTING AN EXAMPLE FOR THEM

Vasquez, who also has two other sons, hopes to raise boys that will be good dads and husbands one day despite not having a father figure example in their lives.

She was overwhelmed by the feedback and encouraged by all of the positivity. Her sons are undoubtedly lucky to have a dedicated and supportive mother like Vasquez, who is there for them as both a mom and a dad when they need it.

ANOTHER SINGLE PARENT'S COMMENDABLE ACTIONS

Parents will do anything for their beloved children, and when they are raising them alone, they often need to be creative, just like Vasquez. Another parent wanted to ensure his daughter didn't feel alone on Valentine's Day.

A single dad known as "takopoke" on Imgur made sure February 14, 2015, was special for his daughter. The loving father's gesture caught the attention of a nearby couple who sent over a note of appreciation.

The strangers called him a "great dad," making him emotional. He prioritized spending time with his princess and was grateful for the encouragement. Single parents often have to fill two pairs of shoes, and they deserve all of the praise that comes their way.
