Who Is Carrie Coon's Husband Tracy Letts? He Became a Father Twice after 50
"The Gilded Age" actress Carrie Coon and her husband, playwriter Tracy Letts have a wonderful marriage that started where their careers did, on stage.
Carrie Coon portrays Bertha Russell in the Julian Fellowes period drama, "The Gilded Age." Although Coon has made a name for herself in the TV and film world, her career started on stage.
Coon's breakout came in 2010 when she performed in a Chicago production of Edward Albee's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" The show was an important stepping stone for her career and love life.

The play transferred to Broadway, and Coon earned a Tony nomination for her performance. She also met her husband, play-writer and actor, Tracy Letts, who co-starred with her in the production.
Letts is a playwriter and actor. He won a Tony Award for his portrayal of George in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and has appeared in five Oscar-nominated movies, including "The Big Short," "The Post," "Lady Bird," "Ford v Ferrari" and "Little Women."
However, it is his writing that has received outstanding praise. He is a Pulitzer Prize Drama winner for his play "August: Osage County," for which he won a Tony award. He was also nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for "Man from Nebraska."
"August: Osage County" is based on Letts' life and family. He explained that he spent 30 years writing the play, which focuses on the events after his grandfather committed suicide when he was ten years old. He once explained during an interview:
"I put all my thoughts and feelings about my family, my extended family in there."
The play was later adapted into a movie starring Meryl Steep, Julia Roberts, Juliette Lewis, Julianne Nicholson, Benedict Cumcumberbatch, and Ewan McGregor
A few years after his "August" success, he married Coon. Coon has described their marriage as happy and healthy. However, during an interview with The Guardian, she admitted that their relationship was originally a showmance, a romance sparked during a production:
"Showmances do happen. Our marriage is the product of a showmance. They don’t usually last but here we are 10 years later, so you never know."
After falling for each other, Coon and Letts got married. However, it was not a fancy and big affair with a celebrity-studded guest list, the best food, and gorgeous decorations.
Letts revealed to Vanity Fair that their wedding took place in the hospital after he had emergency gallbladder surgery. They had planned to get married at the courthouse, but Letts experienced terrible pain the night before and went to the emergency room.
After having his gallbladder removed, "The Nest" actress found the Lutheran chaplain, and he performed the ceremony. Letts described the occasion as "lovely, intimate" and "personal," explaining they had a great time together.
Coon and Letts became parents for the first time in 2018 when they welcomed their son Haskell. Later, in 2021 they welcomed a second child together. Coon was pregnant with their second child while filming "The Glided Age." Luckily the period costumes helped to hide her growing bump.
