Nicole Byer Once Married a Man for Money - Inside the 'Wipeout' Star's Dating History
Nicole Byer wears many hats. She is a comedian, an actress, an author, a TV host, and a podcaster, but despite all that, one thing that has completely eluded her is love. Let's take a look at her dating history.
Fans recognize Nicole Byer from the comedy streaming television series "Loosely Exactly Nicole," which premiered on MTV in 2016. Facebook Watch later picked up the series as it entered the second season in December 2017.
Today she hosts podcasts such as "Best Friends" and "Why Won't You Date Me?" In addition to that, she also stepped in to host the newly revived obstacle course competition show "Wipeout" alongside professional wrestler and actor John Cena.

POKING FUN AT HER INABILITY TO FIND LOVE
She has also been busy with her gig as host of "Nailed It!" a Netflix baking competition show. Besides her endless fat jokes and banter, Byer also pokes fun at her inability to find love.
Asked about the idea behind "Why Won't You Date Me," she said: "I mean, I'm a single woman who nobody wants to date, so I started doing a podcast about it."

While one may be quick to sympathize with her, the actress says she does not care for anyone's pity as she's been making a killing off of her single status for years.
BYER HAS BEEN UNLUCKY IN LOVE
While finding love is a walk in the park for some, Byer has struggled to find love for the longest time. Opening up on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in March 2021, Byer recounted how she had been on multiple pandemic dates, and yet none of them worked out.
She shared that finding viable dates during the pandemic had been challenging. Recounting one instance, she told Kimmel that she had landed herself a Facetime date that only allocated her 15 minutes.
When Kimmel suggested that the actress could be sabotaging her love life by talking about her dates on the podcast, she laughed before curtly adding: "Well, I'd rather pay my mortgage than find love."

Despite her countless pandemic dating horror stories, she is still a staunch believer in true love and continues to look for it. She told The Guardian, as Distractify reports:
"I want to be in a relationship. I will go on a date with a weirdo because maybe they could be my weirdo. And yes, they may be very fun to talk about, but I will go just in case they are perfect for me."

MARRYING FOR MONEY
And while her audiences are all too familiar with her string of failed dates and how they end up becoming subjects of her podcast, many are not aware that she was once married, but for other reasons besides love.
Byer opened up about once marrying a man to help him get his green card in exchange for money. She would later reveal that the episode featured on "Loosely Exactly Nicole" was true.

She says the man in question was a tiny Indian who would do whatever it took to stay in America. He was ready to pay $30,000, which Byer used to pay for improvisation classes. The sham marriage ended in divorce a short while later.
