Met Gala 2022: The Craziest Past Outfits of Fashion’s Most Expected Night
The Met Gala is the most important fashion event globally as it gathers actors, musicians, and designers wearing bold, eccentric clothes. Some choices attract more attention than others, though.
Unlike other red-carpet events where people wear elegant gowns and classic suits, the Met Gala is all about exploring fashion and sticking to a theme that changes each year (the 2022 Met Gala theme is In America: An Anthology of Fashion).
However, the fashion choices of some celebrities in past editions of the gala were so risky that they are hard to forget. Here are a few of the craziest Met Gala costumes.

Topping our list are Kim Kardashian and her ex-partner, Kanye West. The 2019 Met Gala's theme was Camp: Notes on Fashion, and the dress code was Studied Triviality. However, the former power couple didn't adhere to it.
Kardashian wore a skintight latex nude dress by designer Thierry Mugler that took eight months to make, and West opted for a black jacket, pants, and boots.

She wore knee-high leather boots and covered her thighs, arms, and part of her chest with black KT Tape. Madonna's jewelry also attracted a lot of attention, especially her headpiece.

The 2015 Met Gala's theme was China: Through the Looking Glass, and Rihanna stuck to it by hiring Chinese designer Guo Pei to create her memorable yellow dress with a long and elaborate train.
Not everyone was a fan of the gown, though. Some netizens even made memes, comparing it to an extra-large pizza and a freshly-made omelet.

Risky choices are common at Met Galas, and Kim Petras' dress for the event held in 2021 proves it. Following the In America: A Lexicon of Fashion theme, Petras channeled a horse.
She put on a Collina Strada outfit featuring a 3D horse head bustier and a colorful skirt. Petras braided her hair to make it look like a long ponytail.

"The Kardashians" star Kim Kardashian made it into our list again for her fashion choice at the 2013 Met Gala. The theme was Punk: Chaos to Couture, but Kardashian opted for a Givenchy dress with a floral pattern that made it to plenty of meme pages.
People had mixed feelings about these celebrities' outfits, but the Met Gala is not about looking sexy. Instead, the event is meant to explore each year's theme with total freedom. Way to go!
