WHEN DID JOHNNY DEPP AND AMBER HEARD START DATING?
Depp and Heard first crossed paths in 2009 while filming "Rum Diary," where they played on-screen lovers. According to the "Sweeney Todd" star, he felt a connection with Heard after an intimate kissing scene. He said:
“That moment was, it was, it felt like something. It felt like something I should not be feeling. I think there was something in the kiss in the shower that was real.”
It wasn't until three years later that they reunited for a movie promotion tour. By then, he had parted ways with his longtime partner, Vanessa Paradis, with whom he shares two kids.

Although the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star denied the allegations, he was forced to give a $7 million divorce settlement, which Heard distributed to two organizations – the ACLU and Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.
However, their story did not end there. In 2018, Heard wrote an op-ed for The Washington Post about domestic abuse. Although she did not mention Depp's name, it was clear that he was being referenced. The post affected Depp in several ways, including a job he lost because of the publication.
The actor sued his ex-wife for defamation over the article for $50 million the following year. Although Heard tried to dismiss the suit, her efforts to do so failed.
