Since becoming part of the royal family, Meghan Markle's father, Thomas, and sister, Samantha, have spoken against the duchess on separate occasions. Some of their revelations resulted from their strained relationship with the former actress.

Meghan Markle's father, Thomas Markle, often made headlines for the revelations he made about his daughter. This time, he made the news because of a health emergency that landed him in the hospital.

Thomas recently suffered a major stroke and was taken to a hospital in California by ambulance. The unfortunate incident came seven days before his trip to London to attend Queen Elizabeth's Jubilee celebrations.

The Duchess' father previously suffered two heart attacks before her 2018 wedding but recovered well. Now, he will miss yet another UK celebration due to health reasons. His daughter, Samantha Markle, said:

“It's a travesty how much he’s been tortured and how much he’s had to go through thanks to my sister's disregard the past few years. That is unforgivable.”

MEGHAN MARKLE'S FATHER AND HALF-SISTER HAVE BEEN OUTSPOKEN ABOUT HER LIFE

It is public knowledge that Thomas and Samantha have not been on good terms with Meghan, especially since she entered the royal family. In the past years, Thomas and Samantha have gone to the media to reveal private information about Meghan.

In May 2018, a source close to the “Suits” alum claimed that Meghan and her father were in a good place and that she had financially supported Thomas over the years. However, due to health reasons, he could not attend the royal wedding.

Two months later, Thomas had a nearly nine-hour conversation with Daily Mail over three days, sharing his insights about his daughter, their relationship, and the royal family. He said, as reported by Insider:

“What riles me is Meghan's sense of superiority. She'd be nothing without me. I made her the duchess she is today. Everything that Meghan is, I made her.”

Thomas claimed that he worked hard to give Meghan a good education and home to grow up in but did not receive any recognition for it. He also accused the royal family of playing a role in trying to make him “go away.”

Noting that he had already reached his limit, Thomas threatened to “unload on them.” He added, “They want me to be silent. They want me to just go away, but I won't be silenced. I refuse to stay quiet."

His outrage towards the royal family continued for the following months, and in August, he compared them to a cult. He said:

“They are cult-like – like Scientology – because they are secretive. They close the door, pull the shades down, and put their fingers in their ears so they don't have to hear. Maybe they have a secret handshake too!”

However, when Meghan and Prince Harry stepped down from royal duties, Thomas did not seem to agree with his daughter's choices. Meghan's sister, Samantha, spoke about their decision and said it was a “slap in the face.”

“I think what is shocking is the lack of consideration for the people involved, the British royal family, the promises that were originally made to honor royal duties, and to lead by example,” she said. On the other hand, Thomas said it was “disappointing” for Meghan to throw away the opportunity.

In a 2021 interview with “Good Morning Britain,” Thomas revealed that Meghan “pretty much disowned both sides of her family” since stepping down. However, he knew that his daughter would talk to him again one day.

Samantha also aired her sentiments to the media and called her sister out for her behavior towards her family. “Depression is not an excuse for treating people like dishrags and disposing of them,” she said.

ALL WE KNOW ABOUT THE AUTOIMMUNE CONDITION SAMANTHA MARKLE SUFFERS

Samantha has been in a wheelchair since 2008 due to her multiple sclerosis diagnosis and claimed she was not invited to Meghan's first wedding because of her condition.

The former actress first walked down the aisle in 2011 to wed Trevor Engleson. However, Samantha's autoimmune condition made it difficult for her to be in attendance. “For a beach wedding in Jamaica, a wheelchair would have been in the way, so I didn't make a big deal,” she said, as reported by Mirror.

While Samantha lives in Miami, Meghan and her husband are raising their two children, Archie and Lili, in California.
