Actor Kevin Spacey appears to be headed for an uphill battle, with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in the U.K. authorizing criminal charges against him for four counts of sexual assault. Yet, amid negative publicity, the actor is set to make an acting comeback.

Before shocking allegations tarnished his name, Kevin Spacey was a well-respected entertainer who has cemented his reputation in Hollywood as an actor, film director, producer, screenwriter, and even singer.

His ascent to stardom began in the 1980s as a stage actor. By the mid-1990s, he established his reputation with his first Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his exceptional performance in the crime thriller, "The Usual Suspects."

Amidst the controversy he is facing now, Spacey's career carries on. The multi-awarded actor will reportedly make his movie comeback courtesy of an Italian film directed by Franco Nero.

Spacey is reportedly set to make a cameo as a police detective in the low-budget independent film titled, "L'uomo Che Disegnò Dio." Besides being its director, Nero will also star in the movie as the protagonist.

The film, produced by Louis Nero, centers around an extraordinarily gifted blind artist who paints true-to-life portraits simply by listening to human voices.

This will be Spacey's return to film acting since late 2017 when sexual assault allegations against him began to surface. At the time, he was dropped from Netflix's "House of Cards."

Besides the critically-acclaimed film, "American Beauty," Spacey starred in several other iconic movies.

The veteran actor made his last film appearance in the 2018 crime thriller, "Billionaire Boys Club," where he played con artist Ron Levin. The film's box office sales only amounted to $2.7 million.

Spacey tends to be private about his love life. The movie star was reported to be in a romantic relationship with actress and radio host April Winchell from 1976 to 1977.

He and actress Dianne Dreyer were in a relationship from 1992 to 2000. The former couple worked together on a number of films, including "Albino Alligator" and "Consenting Adults."

They were together at the 2000 Academy Awards ceremony, where Spacey gave a shout-out to Dreyer in his acceptance speech after winning the Best Actor award for his performance in the film, "American Beauty."

Spacey was also romantically linked with actress Jennifer Jason Leigh and journalist Ashleigh Banfield, although these alleged relationships have not been confirmed.

Besides the critically-acclaimed film, "American Beauty," Spacey starred in several other iconic movies. He famously starred in the 1995 crime film "Se7en," alongside Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt, and Andrew Kevin Walker.

Spacey also played a starring role in the 1996 thriller, "A Time to Kill," with Matthew McConaughey, Sandra Bullock, and Samuel L. Jackson, which grossed $108 million.

Another famous film where the actor appeared is "L.A. Confidential," a 1997 film that followed three cops as they investigated a series of murders in 1950s Los Angeles. Spacey also co-produced the 2013 film "Captian Philipps," played by actor Tom Hanks.
