Who Is Bill Stevenson? Jill Biden’s Ex-husband Once Accused Her of Cheating on Him with Joe Biden
Before falling in love with President Joe Biden, Jill Biden was married to rock and roll fanatic Bill Stevenson at 18 years old. Stevenson later accused the couple of lying about how their romance began.
Jill Biden will turn 71 on June 3, 2022, but the current first lady doesn't look a day over 50. After her husband, President Joe Biden, was elected into office, Jill became the first first lady in American history to generate income outside of the White House.
She is a graduate of the University of Delaware, obtaining a Doctorate in Education in 2007. Jill also taught English at the Rockford Center psychiatric hospital, apart from working in public schools.
Jill took her knowledge beyond the classroom and penned many children's books, including "Don't Forget, God Bless Our Troops" and "Joey: The Story of Joe Biden."
In 2012, Jill released a memoir that made it to the New York Times bestseller. It was titled "Where the Light Enters: Building a Family, Discovering Myself."
Jill is undoubtedly a self-made woman that complements the President well. However, Joe was not her first husband. In 1970, at the age of 18, Jill married Bill Stevenson, the man who her parents adored.
WHO IS BILL STEVENSON?
Stevenson chose a career path different from Jill. He wanted to become a performer and decided that rock and roll were what he wanted to do. So he opened an iconic Newark bar, Stone Balloon, in the '70s that featured some of the biggest names of his generation.
Jill and Stevenson first met in Ocean City, New Jersey, in 1969. "I fell in love with her because I married her six months later," he said. However, their relationship fell apart as quickly as it began.
The couple divorced in 1974 and lived separately from each other. It didn't take long before Jill began dating Joe in 1975 and tied the knot in 1977.

However, Stevenson tells a different story of how Jill and Joe's romance happened. According to Stevenson, the President and First Lady fell in love while Jill was still married – a claim that negates the published love story of meeting during a blind date. He said:
"[...] If it wasn't for my divorce, I would never have met my wife Linda, and she's the greatest thing in my life – but [my book] does have facts that aren't pleasant to Jill and Joe."
DOES JILL BIDEN HAVE CHILDREN?
Jill and Joe share one child together, Ashley Blazer Biden, who they welcomed on June 8, 1981, in Wilmington, Delaware.
Jill is also a doting stepmother to Joe's children from his previous marriage to Neilia Hunter. Sadly, Joe's eldest child, Beau, died in 2015 due to brain cancer. He was 46.
Years before the tragic event, in 1972, Joe's daughter, Naomi, also died at 13 months old in a car accident. The devastating tragedy also claimed the life of Joe's first wife.
It seems that Joe and Jill are going strong in their marriage through all the challenges that come their way. Hopefully, they will have a long-lasting relationship like former President Jimmy Carter and First Lady Rosalynn Carter, which lasted over 70 years.
