What Outfit Did Meghan Markle Choose for Trooping the Colour?
For Trooping the Colour, which took place on June 2, 2022, Meghan Markle, back in the UK, kept things stylish in her favorite navy blue color. She opted for an off-the-shoulder pencil dress paired with a wide-brimmed blue and white monochrome hat by Stephen Jones.
For nearly 260 years, the Trooping the Colour has honored the official birthday of the British Sovereign. Parading troops, horses, and musicians gather every June in a spectacular display of military precision, horsemanship, and fanfare to commemorate The Queen's formal birthday.
As with every royal event, the royal family serves a healthy dose of pomp, fanfare, and a royal spectacle from the balcony of Buckingham Palace. However, they do not disappoint the royal watchers as they tackle the day in style.

For the 2022 celebrations, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made it to the UK and were seen shushing young royals when they attended the Queen's Jubilee celebrations on June 2, 2022.
This is the couple's first joint public appearance after they notoriously quit royal life in January 2020 and trashed the royal family in an infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Meghan playfully shushed the Queen's great-granddaughters Savannah Phillips, Isla Phillips, Mia Tindall, and Lena Tindall inside Buckingham Palace, and soon after, Harry made the same gesture.

WAS MEGHAN MARKLE PRESENT AT THE TROOPING THE COLOUR?
Meghan traveled to the UK with her husband and children, Archie and Lilibet, for the Trooping the Colour. While attending the event, she wore an elegant navy blue dress which she paired with a dramatic white hat with a wide brim and an oversized navy bow.
The hat was designed by British milliner Stephen Jones and quickly caught the attention of fashion lovers. The milliner has worked with clients like John Galliano and Vivienne Westwood.

The hat, with an asymmetric headpiece shape and velvet bow detailing, was out of the designer's Spring/Summer 2022 collection and was inspired by his love of France.
Meghan and Harry did not join the carriage procession and have not been photographed as much because they are no longer part of the public-facing parts of the parade.
They were also not on the balcony because the royal family announced that only working royals would be on the balcony. Meghan and Harry watched from the Major General's Office with other royal family members.

WHY DID PRINCE HARRY AND MEGHAN MARKLE STEP DOWN AS SENIOR ROYALS?
Prince Harry opened up about the reasons behind his historic split with the British royal family. He said Britain's "toxic" press environment was "destroying" his mental health. He said:
"I was like 'This is toxic,' so I did what any husband, what any father would do. I was like, 'I need to get my family out of here.' But we never walked away, and as far as I'm concerned, whatever decisions are made on that side, I will never walk away."
Harry further stated that he would always contribute and has dedicated his life to public service no matter where he finds himself.
