Actor Johnny Depp met French singer, model, and actress, Vanessa Paradis in 1998. The pair met when Depp arranged to meet Vanessa and a distant friend for a drink.

Depp and Paradis felt instantly connected and were together for 14 years. They had two children together whom they both lovingly referred to as 'kiddies,' Lily-Rose, born in 1999, and Jack, born in 2002.

Towards the end of their relationship, Paradis and Depp explained that their relationship became bumpy and unpleasant at times. "When you have children there is no room for lies, there's no room for anything but the truth," Depp said.

Depp added that he and Paradis were truthful to their children about the end of their relationship. He exclaimed that he was proud of how accepting Lily-Rose and Jack were about the split.

JOHNNY DEPP MEETS AND DATES AMBER HEARD

Just before Depp's breakup from Paradis, he met a fellow actor, Amber Heard on the set of "Rum Diary" in 2011. Heard and Depp publicly came out about their romantic relationship soon after Depp's breakup from Paradis.

When Heard and Depp came out publicly with their relationship, Heard was thrilled to get close to Lily-Rose and Jack. She said her new role:

"[was] an honor and the greatest, most surprising gift I have ever received in my life … I feel new flavors that I didn't know existed. New colors that I didn't know existed have been added to my life. I'm so happy."

As soon as Heard and Depp revealed that they were engaged to be married, Heard's love for Lily-Rose and Jack was placed under the spotlight.

Heard was seen shopping with Lily-Rose to spend some bonding time together, but not all was as rosy as it seemed. During the intimate nuptials between Depp and Heard, Lily-Rose was not present.

Oonagh’s birth came about a year after Depp lost a libel case against "The Sun" newspaper over an article that labeled him a “wife-beater.”

"My daughter Lily-Rose did not come to the wedding. She and Ms. Heard were not on particularly great terms, for several reasons," Depp said.

Only 15 months into their marriage, Heard filed for divorce from Depp, citing irreconcilable differences. Heard filed a restraining order petition a short while before filing for divorce.

After the jury reached its verdict, Depp thanked the jury for giving him his life back after the 2016 libel case badly affected his and his children’s lives.

However, she dismissed her petition which contained claims that Depp brutalized her. A few months into the divorce proceedings, Depp settled and paid Heard $7 million to walk away from the marriage.

Depp and Heard released a joint statement at the end of the divorce proceedings which partially stated:

"Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love..."

Heard decided in the same year that she would eventually have a child of her own, but she didn't have a child immediately after the divorce.

Four years after making the decision to have a child, Heard's dream to become a parent came true. Her daughter, Oonagh Paige Heard, was born via surrogate on April 8, 2021.

Soon after Oonagh's birth, Heard said, "She's the beginning of the rest of my life." A source close to Heard said, "For now, all that matters to Amber is Oonagh and raising a healthy and strong daughter."

During the case, the judge found that Depp assaulted Heard several times during their relationship and made her fear for her life on three separate occasions.

Heard testified against Depp in this case and Depp appealed the ruling, but the court refused permission for Depp to appeal.

Following "The Sun" winning the libel case against Depp, Depp sued Heard for defamation of character after she wrote an op-ed in 2018 detailing Depp's alleged abuse of her.

What followed was a sensational trial. But in the end, the jury unanimously found that Heard could not substantiate her allegations against Depp in the op-ed.

Depp was awarded $10 million out of the $50 million that Depp sued Heard for. During the trial, Depp denied that Heard had any bond with either of his two children.

An attorney asked Depp, "at the end of your relationship, how was Ms. Heard's relationship with your children?" He replied, "non-existent…they refused to be around her anymore…"

After the jury reached its verdict, Depp thanked the jury for giving him his life back after the 2016 libel case badly affected his and his children's lives.

On the other hand, Heard planned to move into a $1.2 million mansion in California with Oonagh and focus her time and energy on her.

Heard was also slated to appear in two films, “Run Away With Me" and “In the Fire." It was unclear whether she planned to appeal the jury's verdict.
