Keanu Reeves’ Daughter: How Did the ‘Matrix’ Star’s Only Child Pass Away?

Keanu Reeves' spirit remains gentle – a surprise considering all the hurdles he has faced during his life. One such adversity included the loss of his only child, little Ava.

Recently, Reeves stepped out onto the red carpet with his girlfriend and artist Alexandra Grant to attend the 2022 MOCA Gala.

In November 2019, the couple used the red carpet at the LACMA Art + Film Gala to go public with their romantic relationship.

Their romance sparked after years of friendship where, throughout the years, they collaborated on projects together.

On top of collaborations, Grant, according to a source, helped Reeves exorcise his demons and open up about his challenging history.

Filled with warmth and kindness, a mirror of her beau, she helped him move on with his life, despite his past struggles.

Reeves and his former girlfriend, Jennifer Syme, were besotted after meeting at a party in 1998. The two conceived a daughter. But she was stillborn at eight months on Christmas Eve of 1999. The almost- parents said goodbye to the little girl they named Ava.

The pair tried to remain together after the tragedy. But, the grief caused an irreparable rift between the couple, so Reeves and Syme went their separate ways.

Two years after they lost Ava, Syme passed away in a car crash on her way to a party hosted by Marilyn Manson. She was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the accident.

THE OTHER TRAGEDIES THAT MARKED KEANU REEVES' LIFE

The death of loved ones continued to plague Reeves' life. After a 10-year battle with cancer, his sister Kim Reeves passed away.

Later, the beloved actor and his best friend River ­Phoenix died at only 23 years old. The star died after taking a mixture of ­morphine and cocaine called a "Speedball."

Actress Ashley Judd also recently suffered the loss of a loved one when her mother, Naomi Judd passed away after a long battle with depression, leaving the actress and her sister Wynonna, devastated.

When still alive, Naomi stated that she thought her depression stemmed from her traumatic background. She said that she had no one to rely on from a young age and had to look after herself financially and emotionally.

But, the star stated that it wasn't just because of her past circumstances. Instead, the depression ran in her genes as well -- Both her mother and father's side of the family faced this illness.

Her depression was severe and resistant to treatment, making it even more difficult for her to manage and survive. And so, no matter how hard she tried or the various pills she took, sadly, on April 30, 2022, her daughter Ashley had to take to Twitter to announce her mother's death.
