What Happened with Tom Cruise’s Teeth?

Actor Tom Cruise has proven his massive star power once again, with his latest film "Top Gun: Maverick" breaking box office records. While his handsome looks helped him succeed in the film industry, Cruise wasn't blessed with perfect teeth.

"Top Gun: Maverick" star Danny Ramirez recently opened up about working with Cruise, describing him as a mentor. Ramirez said working on the set of the box-office hit was "one of the most amazing experiences" he has had.

The actor portrayed Lieutenant Mickey "Fanboy" Garcia and underwent unique training for the role. Ramirez likened his experience working on the movie to getting a master's degree or a doctorate.

WHY DOES TOM CRUISE HAVE A MIDDLE TOOTH?

When he was a kid, a hockey puck hit Cruise in the face and chipped his front tooth. He had a cap placed to cover the chipped part. But early in his career, he reportedly had the cap removed for his role in the film "The Outsiders."

At the time, he thought his asymmetrical tooth worked well for the character. His right front tooth later came to be referred to as his "middle tooth." Others referred to it as a "mono-tooth" or a "unitooth."

With his ubiquitous smile, many have become interested in his unusual tooth. One dentist claimed that Cruise had an asymmetric gum line and a badly matched cap on his right front tooth.

But the actor went on to undergo cosmetic dental surgery to improve his smile. Fresh from his breakup with actress Nicole Kidman in 2001, Cruise was pictured wearing braces.

He reportedly had a crown fitted before wearing braces to straighten his teeth. He kept his braces while walking the red carpet at the premiere of his 2002 film "Minority Report."

DOES TOM CRUISE WEAR HEELS?

For a long time, eagle-eyed fans have been curious whether Cruise wears heels because at every social event he went to, his height would nearly match that of his other female celebrities who are naturally taller than him.

In 2010, Cruise and actress Cameron Diaz were photographed together on the red carpet for their promotional movie "Knight & Day." In the photo, Cruise looked tall beside his co-star, who was wearing stilettos at the event.

Recently, Cruise– who stands at 5ft and 7 inches–stood beside Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, during the "Top Gun: Maverick" premiere in Leicester Square, London. He appeared to be of the same height as the duchess, who stands at 5 ft and 9 inches.

The 40-year-old duchess wore an elegant off-the-shoulder black gown with stylish pointed black high heels to the event, which she attended with her good-looking husband, Duke of Cambridge, Prince William.

Besides Diaz and the Duchess of Cambridge, Cruise was frequently photographed matching the height of his ex-wife Katie Holmes who also towers at 5ft 9 inches.

Fans speculated that Cruise was using platform shoes to boost his height. Despite Cruise's ever-changing height, the actor has never revealed nor addressed if he wears platform shoes.
