Science communicator, mechanical engineer, and television presenter, William Sanford Nye, popularly known as Bill Nye the Science Guy, was never legally married to ex-fiancée Blair Tindall. Here is all you need to know about their relationship.

The former mechanical engineer for Boeing is best known for hosting the television program "Bill Nye the Science Guy" before becoming a performer and comedy show writer. The vocal member of the science community and popular public figure is also a successful author.

As a mechanical engineer, he developed the hydraulic pressure resonance suppressor, which the Boeing 747 still uses. While working as an engineer, he won a Steve Martin look-alike contest and got his start in comedy.

He subsequently resigned as an engineer to pursue a career as a comedy writer and performer on "Almost Live," a Seattle sketch comedy show. During this time, he got the moniker the "Science Guy."

On June 19, 2022, as Americans celebrated Juneteenth, Nye attempted to join in the celebrations with some historical insight. In his attempt, he mistakenly claimed Juneteenth was the day slavery ended in America in 1865.

As his followers took to social media to school him, the self-proclaimed high school geek, who was once engaged to Tindall, thanked them for setting the record straight.

On "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson," Nye announced that he was engaged to the "Mozart in the Jungle" author, musician, and motivational speaker, Tindall.

In 2006, he surprised her with a spontaneous wedding officiated by super-star Pastor Rick Warren with their wedding march performed by MIT Media Lab Professor Michael Hawley as the pianist and famous cellist Yo-Yo Ma.

However, for unknown reasons, their marriage was never legitimate. Nye said:

"We were never married. We got a letter from the State of California, with the great seal affixed, that we were never married."

During the separation process, Nye filed for a restraining order against Tindall because he said she began to grow more unreasonable and unpredictable.

He also revealed that she broke into his home, stole several personal items, and destroyed his garden, among other wrongdoings.

Tindall has taught journalism and oboe at college and university levels. Besides publishing her memoir "Mozart in the Jungle: Sex, Drugs, and Classical Music" in 2005, she is also a classical music writer for different newspapers.

After publishing her memoir, it earned rave reviews, but controversies filled it as she claimed that Keith Lockhart, the Boston Pops conductor, was one of her sex partners, though he denied the claims.

In addition, the classical music community blacklisted her, but Tindall said she had no regrets. Eventually, the book was turned into a TV show by Amazon Prime after an HBO deal did not work out.

After his relationship with Tindall did not work out, Nye remained a bachelor. Despite being such a well-known public figure, there is very little information about his personal life as he has mastered the art of keeping his privacy.
