WHO IS SULLIVAN PATRICK DEMPSEY?
Patrick Dempsey and his wife Jillian Fink welcomed their twins Sullivan Patrick and Darby Galen on February 1, 2007, at a hospital in Los Angeles. The twins have an older sister, Talula, who was born on February 20, 2002.
After they were born, the actor quickly noticed the differences in Sullivan and Darby's personalities. Patrick compared Sullivan's temperament to that of a grumpy old man, in contrast to Darby's peaceful and quiet disposition.
Sullivan and Darby have German, English, and Scottish ancestors on their father's side. Both their grandparents were born in Pennsylvania. Their paternal grandfather worked as an insurance salesman, and their paternal grandmother was a school secretary.
SULLIVAN AND HIS TWIN BROTHER WERE BORN VIA C-SECTION
Darby and Sullivan were born two weeks early via cesarean section, with Patrick cutting the fraternal twins' umbilical cords. Patrick was a hands-on father, according to Jillian.
But with three children to look after, Patrick and his wife found relief in having a nanny assist them on occasion. According to his wife, the actor preferred the interactive stage of childhood to the newborn stage.
Jillian explained that fathers generally struggle during the newborn stage because they don't feel as connected with their babies doing nothing but breastfeeding.
Meanwhile, Talula was an excited and caring big sister to her younger brothers. Although Patrick and Jillian chose the boys' names, Talula assisted in determining who was who.
Patrick saw to it that he and Talula would still have father-daughter bonding while they were busy taking care of the newborns. While the boys were sleeping or nursing, Patrick and Talula would go on bike rides and watch movies.
SULLIVAN AND HIS TWIN BROTHER HAVE THEIR FATHER'S NAMES
Patrick named his sons the Irish way. Darby has Galen, the same middle name as his father, while Sullivan has Patrick as his middle name. Talula, the actor's older daughter, has her name spelled in Irish.
Aside from their names, they inherited something else from their father. Initially overwhelmed when they found out they were expecting twins, Patrick was pleased that the boys had his hair. Darby had shorter blond hair, while Sullivan had black hair.

Many of Jillian and the "Bridget Jones's Diary" actor's friends, including Alabama director Andy Tennant, admired the power couple's relationship. Tennant said:

Patrick and Rochelle met three years earlier while working together on the play "Brighton Beach Memoirs," where Patrick portrayed Rochelle's nephew. The actors became close, and Rochelle eventually became Patrick's manager.
They kept their relationship private for fear of being judged because of their age difference. However, their marriage didn't work out. It ended in a messy divorce.
Rochelle filed for divorce in 1991, accusing Patrick of physical abuse. He allegedly broke her finger by slamming a car door into her hand. She claimed that the abuse began early in their relationship, with him beating her up on the set of his 1987 film "Can't Buy Me Love."
Their divorce was finalized in 1994. Rochelle later recanted some of her accusations, claiming that she had been directed to make them, presumably by her lawyers, during their contentious divorce. Rochelle died in April 2014 after battling lung and throat cancer.
SULLIVAN PATRICK DEMPSEY MAKES FUN OF HIS DAD FOR BEING A 'HEARTTHROB'
Patrick revealed that Sullivan and his other children teased him about his heartthrob status. According to the actor, his children do not allow him to take himself too seriously.
But Patrick explained that the way kids perceive their parents has more to do with their age, adding whether he is a cool dad or not depends on where they are in their development and age.
But the actor is determined to always set a good example for his children, he stated when accepting the American Cancer Society 2019 Impact Award for his work with the Dempsey Center. It is a nonprofit cancer support foundation he helped establish in honor of his mother, who died of cancer in 2014.
