The news of Helen McCrory's death sent shockwaves through the entertainment. The talented actress and mother dominated the movie scene for years, bringing joy and smiles to fans' faces.

The great Aunt Polly, as most "Peaky Blinders" fans called her, died at the age of 52 after a battle with cancer. Her husband, actor Damian Lewis announced the heartbreaking news on his Twitter page on April 16, 2021.

"I'm heartbroken to announce that after a heroic battle with cancer, the beautiful and mighty woman that is Helen McCrory has died peacefully at home, surrounded by a wave of love from friends and family," Damian wrote in his statement,

The actor added that his beloved wife died as she lived "Fearlessly." He then acknowledged how lucky the family was to have had her in their lives because she blazed brightly.

Damian and Helen first met when they performed together in Five Gold Rings at London's Almeida Theatre. Afterward, the pair grew close, and according to Helen, Damian's sense of humor drew her to him.

Before meeting Damian, Helen focused solely on her career and made no time for romance. However, meeting the actor when she did was pure chance due to her time-consuming life as an actress.

After dating for a while, the couple welcomed their daughter Manon in 2006 and son Gulliver in 2007. The lovebirds exchanged marital vows in a registry office ceremony in July 2007.

The couple eventually welcomed their first child Manon McCrory-Lewis on September 8, 2006. However, the childbirth was not as smooth because Helen had to undergo a cesarean section. Thankfully everything worked perfectly for both mother and child, who weighed just under 7lbs at birth.

The actress disclosed she wanted her kids to be less interested in staring at computers. Instead, she wanted them to be more interested in speaking with her about their feelings. Also, the couple agreed during their marriage that both of them would not accept work at the same time.
