In 2003, Gibson starred as herself in Bret's music video titled "Bret Michaels: Raine," and in 2019, she also starred in the comedy-drama "The Untold Story."
She became famous when she started dating Bret, the singer-songwriter and frontman of Poison's rock band. Their relationship was on and off. However, on August 9, 2021, Gibson took to her Instagram to post a picture of herself and the singer while wishing him a happy anniversary.
KRISTI GIBSON AND BRET MICHAELS MET IN 1994
Before the couple met in 1994, he was in a relationship with the Canadian-American actress, model, activist, and author, Pamela Anderson. The duo started dating in 1993, but their relationship was short-lived.
After Gibson and Bret met, their chemistry quickly took off, but they did not start a committed relationship for another two years. In 1996, the duo became an official couple.
COUPLE WELCOMED FIRST DAUGHTER IN 2000
Despite having an unstable relationship, the couple welcomed their first daughter Raine Elizabeth on May 20, 2000. She is also walking in her mother's footsteps as an actress and a model.
In 2002, Raine starred in "The Making of Bret Michaels," in 2003, she starred in "Bret Michaels: Raine," and in 2018, she starred in "The Last Sharknado: It's About Time."
In 2019, while the teenager was a college student, she landed a coveted spot in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, whose cover girl was the model and businesswoman Tyra Banks.
THEY WELCOMED A SECOND DAUGHTER IN 2005
On May 5, 2005, the musician and Gibson welcomed their second daughter Jorja Bleu. She is also credited as an actress as she starred in "Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It" in 2010, and in 2018, she had a minor role in "Mistrust."
However, Jorja Bleu is walking more in her father's footsteps as she has his musical genes and plays the piano. In 2019, she inspired him to write the song "Unbroken," for which he also credited her as a co-writer.
BREAK UP IN 2007
Two years after the singer and Gibson welcomed their second child, their relationship was reportedly over, even though there was no information about what caused the split and when it happened.
However, in 2007 he started his reality show "Rock of Love" on VH1. The show, which had 25 girls competing to be his girlfriend, aimed to help the singer find his one true love.
THEIR ENGAGEMENT IN 2010
Bret's reality show ended in 2009 after its third season. He did not find love on the show, but he mended his relationship with Gibson, and by 2010, they were an item again.
After over a decade of being in an on-and-off relationship, he asked Gibson to marry him in December 2010 on the finale of another of his reality shows, "Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It."
Before he proposed, the singer got down on his knee and proclaimed his love for Gibson. He said:
"I love you, and you've been unbelievably a big part of my life, and we have two beautiful girls together. … I know we love and respect each other, and I hope that we can find that inner love that we have forever. And I want you to be my wife."
He also pleaded with her to say yes because the rejection would kill him immediately. Gibson said she never thought this day would come and said yes to his proposal.
Afterward, they told their daughters the great news. Bret said to his daughters:
"I did it! We'll all be together forever! Family hug!"
Before the proposal, the Poison frontman had survived a near-fatal brain hemorrhage. He said that after all they had been through, Gibson was still standing with him, and she had put up with me throughout the years.
HARD TIMES FOR THE COUPLE IN 2010
In April 2010, the musician had one of the scariest moments of his life as he suffered a brain hemorrhage. However, Gibson was there for him. His guitarist friend Pete Evick said:
"In most of our world, Bret's the hero, but in this situation, Kristi was the hero – she saved his life."
In an interview, Gibson revealed that she was used to being calm because there were times when the singer's blood sugar went low, and when she lost it, he also lost it.
Gibson stayed by him and had promised not to leave his side as he was ill. She said:
"I held his hand and told him, 'It's going to be okay.' Just from his eyes, you could tell how much pain he was in. I wanted to take away that pain so bad."
Despite being sick, he was still worried about Gibson and their daughters. She said they were all he cared about, but she assured him that he need not worry as they would be fine.
