American Actor, Comedian, and Screenwriter John C. Reilly is notably famous for his roles in classic movies like "Boogie Nights" and "Step Brothers." He has also featured in other productions and bagged several awards.

Besides his career achievements, John is also thriving in his personal life. The actor is happily married to his wife of 30 years, Alison Dickey. The couple first met in Thailand while filming the 1989 film "Casualties of War."

Dickey was working as Sean Penn's assistant while John was acting alongside the American actor and director. Soon, the pair became romantically involved. They dated for some time before walking down the aisle in 1992.

Six years later, John and Dickey welcomed their first child, son Leo Reilly while the duo's second child joined the family in 2001. Here are more details about the couple's career, relationship, and family.

JOHN'S WIFE FELT "SOMEWHAT UNSATISFIED" OF HIS ROLES SO SHE PRODUCED HIS MOVIE

Like her husband, Dickey is no stranger to the entertainment industry. She works behind the camera as an independent producer, which has given her the opportunity of producing two movies that John has appeared in, "Terri" and "The Sisters Brothers."

Dickey had always wanted to work on a project with her husband, especially as she once revealed that she felt somewhat unsatisfied with John's roles. In the producer's words:

"I've seen the whole trajectory of his career. I'm so well aware of what he's capable of doing. I always feel somewhat satisfied and somewhat unsatisfied after I watch a film of his, just in terms of wanting to get the whole palette."

So, Dickey found a perfect project in "Terri." Azazel Jacobs and Patrick DeWitt wrote the 2011 coming-of-age drama, and it saw John play the role of a good-natured high school principal.

Thankfully, the production was a hit and paved the way for the couple's second big project, "The Sisters Brothers." In the movie, John starred as Eli, opposite Joaquin Phoenix, who played the role of Charlie.

The movie saw one of the duo spend a majority of time stumbling through violent encounters while the other engaged in more tender, familial struggles.

Dickey, the producer, was pleased to see John show that he not only had comedic skills but dramatic skills as well. According to her:

"One of the beautiful things about his performance in the film is that it really showcases his range both as a dramatic actor, but also being able to find comedy in a situation. That's what John's interested in."

When Dickey first read the manuscript of what the novel "The Sisters Brothers" was based on, she was over the moon. Azazel Jacobs had suggested that John might be a perfect fit for Eli's character, so Dickey was moved to look at the manuscript.

According to the producer, she could not believe what she was reading and had to give it to her husband to read due to her enthusiasm. Thankfully, Dickey's enthusiasm made her put so much effort into the project. After seven years of hard work, "The Sisters Brothers" was finally released in 2018.

Before the release, the original novel had already been published and shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, receiving many other awards.

Over the years, John has spoken about how working with his wife feels. During a 2011 interview, the actor shared his thoughts about having his wife around while filming "Terri" after the interviewer asked if it was an odd situation. In his words:

"No, it's fun. I like working with people I know. It saves a lot of awkward conversations and getting to know you kinda moments. You trust the people if you know them."

"I had a direct line to the producers if I needed to get something done or if I had any issues, which I didn't. But it was nice to know that she was there," he added.

As much as John enjoys having his wife around on set, some people still find it strange that Dickey is the one behind the scenes while her husband is on the big screen.

John is not in support of the above perception and made it known during the 2011 interview. According to the "The Brothers Sisters" star:

"I wonder if people would ask the same question if my wife was the actor and the husband was behind the scenes. A lot of people ask me that question."

"Like guys, they say, 'So your wife produced this movie. Was that a nightmare?' I think you're talking about your marriage. Not mine. It was fine with my wife," he explained.

The actor and Dickey also spoke about how they formed a relationship on the set. According to John, he and his wife jumped right in with both feet.

Meanwhile, John and his wife are not the only ones in the family who are deeply rooted in the entertainment industry. The couple's son, Leo, is quite known, as he is a model.

The young man also doubles as a musician, who goes by the name, LoveLeo and has released a few music videos on YouTube, one of which had almost 12 million views as of 2020.

In addition, Leo is also a social media sensation. He is a content creator known for his top-notch editing skills, with over a million followers on TikTok. Hopefully, Leo gets to attain more success in his chosen career.

On the other hand, things are not quite the same for his younger brother. In fact, nothing is publicly known about John and Dickey's second child, except he was born three years after his older brother.
