Johnny Carell is Steve Carell's only son with his wife and fellow comedian Nancy Carell. His father has always admired his son and his sharp mind from an early age.

Johnny inherited his parent's sense of humor and had a penchant for sarcasm from the beginning. This natural ability to make others laugh has left his dad and his online followers in stitches.

WHO IS JOHNNY CARELL?

Johnny's mother gave birth to him on June 25, 2004. He is now 18 years old and a Cancer. The young man has a witty sense of humor, a trait he probably got from his dad. Johnny is also private and keeps his distance from social media and the paparazzi.

Although his father is a beloved actor, Johnny hasn't shown much interest in his work. During a 2017 interview, Steve stated, "They don't really watch anything I've done. I'm just Dad. I'm not like this actor or anything."

Despite the general disinterest in their dad's career, Johnny and his sister Elisabeth Anne Carell have watched all the "Despicable Me" and "Minions" movies, where their father voices the villainous yet loveable Gru.

The actor said that his children adore the characters and that the franchise has become a family viewing staple. He stated that although they are grown, every new movie brings out a sense of nostalgia.

So when the most recent "Minions" movie premiere came along, the kids were more than willing to attend it. The two siblings joined their mother and father at the Los Angeles screening.

STEVE CARELL IS A FAN OF JOHNNY CARELL'S WIT

While Johnny may not be drawn to his father's on-screen comedy, his dad certainly admires his son's witty personality. From Johnny's early years, Steve often took to Twitter to share his boy's quips. One tweet read:

"After enjoying a tuna fish sandwich, my seven-year-old son kindly asked me to, 'Change my breath.'"

In another tweet, he wrote, "Today, my 10-year-old son said, 'When life gives you lemons, squeeze the lemons in life's eyes, and demand oranges.'"

The internet loved it, so with the backing of Johnny's growing fan base, Steve has continued to share his son's quick-witted thoughts and replies. In another tweet, he shared:

"My 9-year-old son just did his impression of Jacob from 'Twilight': 'I prefer not to wear a shirt because I want to show my four dog nipples.'"

He jokingly tweeted that he "binge watched" his kids and that it was the best thing he had seen. The father also tweeted a dialogue between Johnny and his mother. In the conversation, Johnny had a witty reply for his mom when asked about making his bed.

Steve has spoken about both of his children's humor at large, stating that, in general, kids do not filter what they say, which makes them funnier. He remarked:

“My kids doing something funny? Oh boy, they do something funny every day.”

He continued speaking about kids and their ability to be naturally humorous because of the purity and honesty of their jokes. The actor believes kids don't even know they're being funny; they're just telling it like it is.

But, it's not only his children who get to have all the fun, with the dad admitting to Ellen DeGeneres that he enjoys playing pranks on his kids. Steve shared that he has a hilarious ritual when he sees them off to school, saying:

"I usually am holding some sort of household appliance. My wife will get in the car, and she'll drive out to the street, so I'll run out to the street just as the car is passing by in front of our house."

He then revealed that he waves goodbye to his children while in a robe and a dog head mask.

JOHNNY CARELL'S FAMILY

It isn't a surprise that Johnny's father would go out of his way to embarrass his kids with his humorous antics, as he is famous for his comedic acting. In 1991 he made his acting debut in "Curly Sue."

He has since appeared in many well-known movies, such as "Bruce Almighty" and "The 40-Year-Old Virgin." The dad-of-two's most iconic role may be as Michael Scott in the series, "The Office."

Johnny's mother, Nancy, is also an actress, writer, and comedian. She was once a cast member of "Saturday Night Live" and helped create "Angie Tribeca," a sitcom, with her husband.

The couple met in an improvisation class at a theater in Chicago, where Steve, the class teacher, felt an immediate attraction to Nancy.

They were pretty shy around one another at first but, in the end, began dating and eventually created the beautiful family they are and have today.

Johnny's sister Elisabeth, who goes by Annie, is interested in acting. She participated in a 2018 summer program at Stonestreet Studios, a New York film acting school.

The Carells make sure to spend time together, and they like to go on vacations and attend events. "Having children is by far the most important and best thing that we ever did," said Steve about his family.
