A Lovely Couple

Amanda Isobel and Sebastian Wicker were a lovely couple whose paths first crossed in South Africa in 2012. At that time, she was working with his family, and the pair connected through work. But over time, the duo realized they were meant to be and decided to give love a chance.

According to his family, Wicker was often away for work for over six months and had missed his son growing up.

The couple was over the moon when they welcomed a son, Oskar, in November 2020. Both Isobel and Wicker were thrilled to embrace parenthood and decided to be the best possible parents to their sweet baby boy.

The Day That Changed Everything

Wicker worked as a land manager in Mozambique, East Africa. He was in charge of looking after a 650,000-hectare region that included rhinos, lions, leopards, and buffaloes in Mozambique's vast Zambezi Delta. Per Isobel, the area he managed was called Coutada 14. She added:

"Sebastian dedicated his whole [life] to Wildlife Conservation. Putting it before his family in many ways. I understood this and accepted this as I was aware of the full reality of the situation."

The couple supported each other through life's highs and lows and were happy in their beautiful little world. Sadly, they were unaware of what fate had in store for them. On September 14, 2022, Wicker was bitten by an unknown snake while he was out on safari.

According to Isobel, her husband was with a safari client, spotting buffalo at a termite mound when the snake attacked him. She said the snake was either a forest cobra or a black mamba, both of which are prevalent in Africa and carriers of venom that can affect the brain.

The Heartbreaking Final Message

Shortly after being bitten, Isobel said her husband left her a touching voice note, confessing his undying love for her. She recalled:

"In the message after the snake bite, you can hear that he is losing consciousness. I sent him a message back, but he didn't open it."

Isobel said the safari client had one dose of anti-venom, which he gave to her husband. Soon afterward, Wicker, 40, was taken to a nearby hospital, but there was no more anti-venom. The distraught wife said her husband was then flown to Beira Private Hospital, but it was too late.

A heartbroken Isobel shared that Wicker's work colleague called her in tears and broke the devastating news. She said she was shocked and in pieces and couldn't believe that her husband was no more.

Isobel, 30, noted that Wicker had survived a buffalo attack in the past, but a snake bite was unheard of. Merely six hours after the poisonous snake bite, the devastated wife said her husband had passed away.

Plans for a Happy Future

According to his family, Wicker was often away for work for over six months and had missed his son growing up. He and Isobel had planned to move to Fort William, Scotland, to start a new chapter as a family and give Oskar a normal life.

Isobel, a former teacher, revealed that Wicker was set to join her and Oskar in Scotland in December. Sadly, none of their plans came to fruition. After losing her devoted husband, Isobel has decided to carry on with their plans and take her son to Scotland for a better quality of life.

She also plans to scatter Wicker's ashes near Glencoe. In a Facebook post dedicated to her loving husband, Isobel wrote:

"He was loved so very much by [myself] and our little laddie, Oskar. We had a whole future waiting for us. To comprehend that he is no longer coming home to us, is [soul-destroying.]"
