Tia Mowry Ends Marriage despite Plans to Renew Vows on 15th Anniversary with Spouse Who Said She's 'the One'

On October 4, 2022, Tia Mowry took to her social media account to share the heartbreaking news about her marriage to her husband, Cory Hardrict. The Instagram post included a black-and-white image of the couple looking into each other's eyes while holding hands outside.

She started her post by noting how she'd always been honest with her fans and that nothing was different that day. The former "Sister, Sister" actress opened up to her followers.

Tia wrote, "I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways." The actress continued her post by stating, "These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness," and noted what would happen with their children writing:

"We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children."

The star also shared her gratitude for all her "happy times" with her husband. Tia thanked her family, friends, and fans for their support and love as she and Cory began a new chapter as they moved on with their lives.

The actress' siblings, twin sister Tamera and brother Tavior left supportive comments on her post. Tamera added several red heart emoticons and wrote, "Love you," while their brother shared the same sentiments and added:

"I support you always."

According to TMZ, Tia filed for divorce from Cory after being together for fourteen years. The publication claimed she made the filing on the same day she made her divorce announcement.

The court documents filed in Los Angeles cited irreconcilable differences for the couple's divorce. Through her alleged lawyer, Laura Wasser, Tia asked for legal and joint custody of their children.

The television star was also requesting that neither party should get spousal support as per their signed prenuptial agreement. Cory and his wife married in 2008 before welcoming two children, Cree and Cairo.

The divorce announcement shocked the couple's fans as it appeared to have come out of nowhere. Before it was revealed, Tia and Cory shared big plans for their relationship and family.

The Canceled Plans to Renew Their Wedding Vows

The first time Cory and Tia renewed their wedding vows was in 2013, during their 5th anniversary. According to the couple's representative, the ceremony was held at night on a Malibu beach.

An E! News eyewitness claimed Cory held Cree as he walked down the aisle while his wife wore a white gown with side cutouts. The actress also allegedly had on a sparkly headband and looked pretty.

Around 20 people were invited to the ceremony and had to wear white. Mindy Weiss, the celebrity event planner, was in attendance and shared an Instagram photo of the couple during the ceremony.

The publication's source claimed Cory held his son as he and his wife exchanged vows, and the ceremony lasted around five minutes. On August 6, 2020, Tia took to her Facebook account, where she shared an image of her posing with her husband and son.

She revealed that the image was a throwback to when she and Cory first renewed their vows. The actress explained that she and her actor husband liked renewing their vows every five years.

Tia explained how they'd missed their tenth-year renewal because she had been pregnant with Cairo. The star went on to reveal the plans she and Cory had for their future together, writing:

"In the next 3 years, it will be #15 years #married. WOW! Crazy how time flies! Wonder where we will #renew our vows next?"

Sadly, that milestone wasn't going to be reached because the couple had been together for 14 years when they separated and would no longer get to 15. Less than two weeks before the divorce filing, Tia shared her plans for Halloween 2022.

While speaking to Us Weekly in September 2022, the actress confessed that she was a big fan of Halloween and planned on going trick-or-treating with her children. She said she and Cory loved taking their brood to amusement parks and dressing up as a family.

Tia noted how things wouldn't be any different that year and shared how she and her husband found some "adult time" at "horror nights at amusement parks." The "Mistle-Tones" actress married Cory after dating him for eight years.

While married, the "Brotherly Love" actor and his wife had always been vocal about how much they loved each other. The pair had also spoken about how they made their marriage last.

How Cory Realized Tia Was the One for Him

In 2017, Cory appeared alongside his wife on Tia Mowry's Quick Fix to discuss their relationship. Tia asked her husband how he knew she was the one for him, and he responded that it was when she was in his corner when he moved to Los Angeles.

He revealed that when he moved to Englewood, he only had two pairs of drawers, was poor, and didn't have anything. Cory recalled how Tia appreciated him and the situation for what it was and loved the actor for who he was.

The star knew then that when he was financially stable, he would buy the actress a wedding ring and ask her to be his wife. Tia recalled how she'd gotten out of an awful relationship when she met Cory.

The actress said she wasn't sure about getting into another relationship when she met the actor, as she believed she needed time to heal. Cory surprised her by being there for her and holding her hand when she needed it.

Tia recalled Cory's patience and that he never forced anything out of her, including getting a kiss! During that time, the actress' husband also taught her to believe in herself, and she started crying as she described him as her "biggest supporter" and "fan."

In February 2021, the couple was interviewed for People the TV Show! Tia confessed how many people asked her and her husband what made their marriage great, and the star's response was:

"If I'm being really honest with you — and we've been doing this for years — we don't focus on specific gender roles."

The actress revealed that they didn't live by society's rules that stated men had to do certain things while women did others. Cory's wife explained that everything was a team effort in their house.
