Beartooth Frontman Caleb Shomo Opens up About His Sexuality, Sparks Emotional Response from Wife of 14 Years
Caleb Shomo says years of inner turmoil led him to finally share a deeply personal truth. But the heartbreaking response from his wife about the collapse of their marriage added another emotional layer to the announcement.
For more than a decade, Caleb Shomo built Beartooth around brutal honesty, turning addiction, depression, and self-hatred into some of heavy music's most personal songs. Recently, the singer revealed there was still one major truth he had been struggling to say out loud.
The Beartooth frontman shared the emotional revelation in a lengthy Instagram statement. But shortly afterward, another deeply personal message followed — one from his wife, Fleur Shomo.

Caleb Shomo Says Sobriety Helped Him Finally Confront His Sexuality
In his lengthy Instagram statement posted on May 22, 2026, Caleb explained that he wanted to address growing speculation surrounding his personal life before it affected "those I love any further."
"I am a proudly gay man," the singer wrote. "This is something I've been unpacking and reckoning with in my life for quite some time now."

The musician said he spent years trying to understand emotions he had long pushed aside. "It's been difficult to navigate the feelings surrounding the subject and figure out what to do with this fact," he continued.

Caleb also reflected on how deeply those struggles influenced Beartooth's music over the years. He described the band's earlier albums as deeply tied to his religious upbringing, depression, self-hatred, and hopelessness.
He also shared how addiction complicated his attempts to understand himself over the years.

“I spent a decade burying feelings with alcohol," Caleb shared, adding that sobriety became "a direct path" toward reconciling with his sexuality and learning self-love.
As Caleb spoke openly about the personal battles behind his music, Fleur later revealed the emotional toll those same struggles had taken on their marriage.

Fleur Shomo Opens up About 'Losing Everything'
Just hours after Caleb's statement, Fleur shared a lengthy Instagram post about the painful reality of supporting someone she still deeply loves while grieving the end of their relationship.
Shortly afterward, Fleur set her Instagram account to private, though People had already reviewed and reported portions of the emotional message, including the toll supporting Caleb while navigating the end of their marriage had taken on her.

"I will always want to love, protect and support Caleb," she wrote. "I have cared more about his well-being over the years than anything else in the world."
Fleur explained that witnessing Caleb's emotional struggles and "highs and lows" over the years had been deeply painful, especially when she felt unsure how to help him through it. She added that more than anything, she simply wanted him to "be ok."
But Fleur also acknowledged the emotional conflict she now faces personally.
"I am the only person that is having to deal with the duality of this situation," she wrote. "To support him whilst losing everything has been incredibly hard to figure out. You can love and support your person through the hardest time in their life, whilst also be completely demolished & lose yourself at the same time..."
The actress and podcast host then confirmed that their union had come to an end. "Our nearly 14 years of marriage was wonderful and full of so much fun, adventure & love. Nobody will know anything about our marriage like we do."
She closed the message with an especially heartbreaking reflection on the end of their marriage: "I already miss it & my husband more than anything. Our story was a good one. And now it is done."
The heartbreaking message added another layer to an already emotional public moment, especially because the couple had appeared happy together only months earlier.
Their Anniversary Tribute Now Feels Especially Emotional
Back in December 2025, Fleur shared a photo of the couple while reflecting on their marriage in a now-private Instagram post. "13 years married today," she wrote. "And I wouldn't change a thing."
Fleur continued the post by calling Caleb her "favourite person" and saying he still made her "laugh like no other." Looking back now, the post reads very differently in light of the couple's separation.
The renewed attention surrounding Fleur has also introduced many fans to the career she's quietly been building outside of Caleb's music world.
Fleur Shomo Has Been Pursuing Acting and Podcasting
While Fleur has often appeared alongside Caleb online over the years, she has also built her own creative career as an actress, writer, and podcast host.
According to her Instagram bio, Fleur hosts the "My Top 5" podcast and works in acting and writing. Earlier this year, she revealed that she appeared as a background actor in Season 2 of HBO’s "The Pitt."
In an Instagram post shared in April 2026, Fleur described the opportunity as "wonderful" and said she spent months learning from the experience on set. She also expressed hope that she could eventually return to the series in a larger role.
For now, both Caleb and Fleur appear focused on navigating an intensely personal life change in public. While their marriage has ended, both made clear in their statements that love and care for one another remain.
