Michigan Boy, 12, Dies after Being Hit by Car on His Way Home from a School Football Game

Superintendent Weeks encouraged moms and dads to speak to their children about the incident. He stated that while it was impossible to predict how someone would respond to such a tragedy, it was crucial to be on high alert.

The Shocking Accident

One of Joey's friends asked him to help search for his missing phone. The youngster didn't hesitate and returned to the field near Dearborn heights to assist. The simple action had unexpectedly painful consequences for Joey and his family.

A black Jeep struck the youngster—the once cheerful and passionate boy was injured critically. Instantly, his family's world turned upside down.

First responders tried to save Joey's life, rendering first aid before rushing him to the hospital. Unfortunately, his wounds were too severe, and he passed away at the medical facility.

Police revealed that the vehicle's driver cooperated and stayed at the accident scene. A witness stated that the driver came to a complete stop and was not speeding.

The D7 School District superintendent, Dr. Ty Weeks, shared his condolences with Joey's family. He assured parents that counseling was available for their kids. He wrote:
