Katie’s life changed dramatically in March 2008 after she survived an acid attack orchestrated by her former partner, an ordeal that left her partially blind and required years of reconstructive surgeries and recovery.

The "Loose Women" presenter's life changed dramatically in March 2008, when she was just 24, after an acid attack by her then-boyfriend Daniel Lynch and an accomplice, Stefan Sylvestre.

The ordeal left her partially blinded, with severe and permanent scarring to her face, chest, neck, arms, and hands. She has since undergone hundreds of operations, while gradually rebuilding her life in the public eye.

On Tuesday, 4 May, Katie posted the carousel on Instagram, opening with a recent outdoor selfie and the caption she wrote across the image:

"This is the same girl who survived at 24 and was told that was the extent of what her life would be."

'I Nearly Didn't Get to Grow Up'

A day earlier, Katie had shared a video showing her regular routine. The footage showed her washing her face, brushing her teeth, and going for a jog, with a personal narration recorded over the top.

"I didn't grow up seeing people like me. I didn't grow up seeing age celebrated."

Katie reflected on turning 42 and explained that nearly losing the chance to grow older had completely changed her perspective on aging.
