For years, he was known mainly because of the adults fighting around him. Now, the conversation surrounding him has changed completely.

He was once at the center of one of Hollywood's most tangled inheritance disputes, a child caught between warring adults and a fortune beyond imagining. Now, years later, he is drawing an entirely different kind of attention.

The 22-year-old filmmaker has resurfaced in photos alongside his mother, and the internet cannot stop talking about one thing: the two of them look almost identical.

Fans who once followed the legal saga surrounding his father's fortune are now doing a double-take at just how much the young man has grown into his mother's image.

The Photo Everyone Is Talking About

The image that set social media buzzing shows mother and son laughing in a sun-drenched garden, arms wrapped around each other, both beaming at the camera.

With his brown hair, sharp features, and easy grin, the resemblance to his 58-year-old mother is immediate and unmistakable. The snapshot is casual and warm, the kind of candid that tends to travel fast online, and travel it did.

Readers were immediately struck by the genetic likeness. "Genetics really blessed that family," one person wrote. "Wait... THAT girl is the mother?!" said another, apparently floored by how youthful the actress appears beside her son.

Not every comment landed the same way. Some readers had thoughts on Damian's personal style. "Why is he dressed like a woman?" one commenter asked, while another kept it brief, "Too girly looking!"

Others focused less on his appearance and more on the dynamic between mother and son. "It's really weird those pics with your son," one person noted.

"She acts weird around her son a little too friendly," wrote another. A third offered simply, "Uh, that's a little creepy with your kid, don't you think?"

The mixed response is nothing new for this particular duo, who have spent years navigating public curiosity about their unusually close bond. For those who have followed their story, the fascination makes complete sense.

The intense reaction surrounding Damian Hurley today reflects years of public fascination with a life that has rarely been straightforward.

The Bond That Raised Eyebrows

With his father largely absent and then gone, Damian was raised almost entirely by his mother, Elizabeth Hurley, and by all accounts, the two became each other's world.

Elizabeth explained during a podcast appearance:

"We don't have that relationship, you know I came from a much bigger family, mum, dad, two siblings but Damian's only ever had me and I've only ever had Damian."

Damian has described his mother as having filled the role of 800 parents at the same time.

The closeness has sometimes puzzled outsiders, especially after it emerged that Damian had been photographing Elizabeth in bikinis for her Instagram since he was around 11 years old, and that he went on to direct her in intimate scenes in his debut thriller, "Strictly Confidential."

Both have consistently maintained that their dynamic reflects the reality of growing up in a single-parent, single-child household, with Elizabeth describing their bond as completely normal within their family.

That closeness was shaped in part by a childhood marked by emotional absence, family conflict, and a very public inheritance battle.

The Fortune He Never Got to Keep

Behind the sun-soaked photos lies a history that has been anything but easy. Damian's father, American film producer and financier Steve Bing, passed away in June 2020 at the age of 55.

His passing came at a moment when, according to Elizabeth, he had only recently begun reaching out to the son he had been largely absent from throughout Damian's childhood. He had called Damian for the very first time on his 18th birthday, just weeks before the end.

What made the loss even more painful was what followed.

Before he passed away, Steve had won a legal challenge against his own father, Dr. Peter Bing, who had attempted to cut Damian and his half-sister Kira out of family trust funds believed to be worth up to a billion dollars.

A judge had ruled in Damian's favor in July 2019. Peter appealed, and four months after his son's passing, the ruling was reversed.

Damian would receive nothing.

The share estimated at around $250 million would go instead to the children of Steve's sister Mary, who were born in wedlock. Elizabeth gave a statement that left nothing to the imagination:

"What Stephen wanted has now been callously reversed. I know Stephen would have been devastated."

Lisa Kerkorian, mother of Damian's half-sister Kira, was equally shaken. "As a mum, I wonder why on earth this had to happen," she said. "Why make two innocent kids into victims?"

Years later, the public conversation surrounding Damian has begun to evolve.

The Young Man He Has Become

He is no longer being discussed primarily as the child at the center of a legal dispute or as the subject of questions about his upbringing.

He is being noticed, plainly and simply, for who he is now.

With his mother's angular bone structure, her dark hair, and that same wide, effortless smile, Damian, at 22, has become something of a talking point in his own right.

His celebrity godfathers include Hugh Grant, Sir Elton John, and David Furnish. He counts Brooklyn Beckham and Lila Moss among his close friends.

He has modeled, acted, written, and directed. Interest in Damian’s life and appearance has steadily grown over the years.

Damian himself has pushed back against the idea that his career has been handed to him because of his famous connections.

In 2024, he acknowledged that growing up around celebrities helped open doors, but insisted staying in the industry required far more than access alone. He said while discussing his thriller "Strictly Confidential," which he wrote and directed:

“There’s nothing remotely glamorous about making a movie — it’s blood, sweat and tears."

He has talked about wanting to make more films with Elizabeth, and she has made no secret of the fact that she is ready to be called on again. When he was just eight years old, she made him a promise: if he ever made a real film, she would be in it.

He held her to it, and she showed up.

The inheritance battle that once defined so much of Damian’s public story may be long settled, but the attention now surrounding the striking young man he has become feels rooted in something entirely different.
