Kindness can change lives forever, and one electrician from Massachusetts proved this. What was intended to be a brief visit to help an older woman quickly turned into something much more.

When an electrician arrived to fix a woman's ceiling light, he was shocked by the state of her home. The elderly Gloria Scott was too poor to keep her home in good condition and too prideful to ask for assistance.

However, John Kinney of Woburn, Massachusetts, couldn't get Scott's situation out of his mind. He visited her home on an ordinary Friday, and by Monday, he was back and had his toolbox with him.

Her Home Was in Bad Condition

Kinney was a kind-hearted and hard-working man who loved his job. He was an outstanding electrician, but above all, he was a Good Samaritan. In 2020, he responded to 72-year-old Scott's call for a standard light replacement.

But the light was the least of her problems. After being alone for a decade, she and her home desperately needed some love and care. She didn't have running water, and raccoons were getting in through a hole in her porch.

Kinney was equally stunned by the response from strangers and noted that there were no words for the significant displays of kindness.

Fixing Her Home Free

Not only did Scott's home need repairs, but Kinney noted that the living conditions were hazardous. He shared: "I knew she needed help, and I knew she wasn't going to ask for it."

Consequently, the electrician unexpectedly showed up and started fixing Scott's home for free. Scott was stunned and grateful, but the best was yet to come.

The kind electrician realized the renovations would be a big job, so he opened a Facebook page and asked for help. He desperately wanted to assist the woman who reminded him of his grandmother, and the online community stepped up.

The Entire Home Was Renovated

Many people in the community were eager to assist. Kinney said the original plan wasn't to fix Scott's whole house but plans quickly changed.

With the new windows, walls, plumbing, electrical work, and a whole new backyard, Scott couldn't believe her eyes. She expressed:

"Look at these people! I mean, I can't even comprehend the gratitude that I have."

It Changed Her Life

Kinney was equally stunned by the response from strangers and noted that there were no words for the significant displays of kindness. The electrician didn't want the project to end with Scott, so he put a name to their efforts, "Gloria's Gladiators."

Kinney hopes to encourage others across America to help seniors like Scott. By changing the woman's home, he changed her life, and Kinney stated:

"She's so happy, she's got all types of new friends. She's out here making lunch for us, laughing, joking. It's just a miracle to witness."

The Online Response

Many netizens were touched by Kinney's deeds and felt compelled to follow his example. Users also applauded him and thanked him for his selflessness:

"I hope you create a non-profit for this and help others wanting to help in the areas they live. I am in Michigan. This would be awesome here. I have the softest spot in my heart for our older generations. Thank you for noticing and acting upon that."
